If you compare the images of the original and the new BD pieces, you can see they've been re-sculpted. All of the diecast re-releases have been re-engineered to some degree.
The increase in price stings a little but I can't really fault Hot Toys. The quality of their pieces has increased considerably over the last ten years. When it comes to collecting luxury plastic fighting men, it's always a matter of what's important to you and what you'rte willing to pay for it.
To my eye, the diecast versions are very much preferable, and seeing as I missed the original releases anyway, I'm content to pay the higher cost for these versions. If, by contrast, one feels the diecast versions don't justify the price increase, that person can probably find the older versions on the secondary market at reduced prices now that the diecast versions are available.
