I have no interest in having this movie segue into The World of Batman.

Yeah I don't think this version of the Joker will stand up to the likes of Batman anyway. He got caught by regular cops.

I'd say, leave it as a stand-alone. I don't even think this needs a sequel. It's good as is. I'd be interested in seeing other villains get an origin too.

How did he go from celebrating with his huge mob to being in Arkham the next second lol

Uhm because he got arrested for killing people?

I also love Arkham being a key point of his history. His iconic lock up and escape cycle was perfect to add into his origin.

Maybe because he was in Arkham the whole time in the movie? I think the entire movie was just him recounting his imagined story to the doctor at the end.

Everything is ambiguous, even his relationship with his mother and Thomas Wayne. In the end, he no longer cares what the truth is anymore and throws away the photo. It's perfect for a Joker origin, because it's up to the audience to believe what they want. The ending can take place they day after or months after the late night show incident, but it can also be him making up a story. I doubt it, because he clearly thinks of the Thomas Wayne murder, so that most likely happened the night of the riots, but who knows?

Exactly this is what makes it great, everything is being made to make you doubt and think what really happened, maybe the whole movie was his take on things than actually happening. Who really knows!

Yeah this is what I like about the movie (the way it is open to a lot of interpretations). There are definite hints IMO on what could be possibly real. So far, the only definite hallucinations in the film are those where things go positive for him. So everything bad that happens to him are potentially rooted in truth.

I do wish he was more evil though. The insane part is fine. I just wish he was more evil where what he does is more premeditated rather than reactionary. Most of the bad stuff he does is a reaction to something happening to him. Killing the 3 Wayne employees was a reaction to them attacking him. Killing the other clown guy is a reaction to him selling him out. Killing Murray was a reaction to him pointing out to him as wrong. Him being almost passive as a character (only being brought to action by the narrative) just keeps the movie from selling him as an effective Joker to me.

Curious to hear what you think, Khev.

Well I think that this has been the best year for comic book movies, ever. That was astoundingly good. In a perfect world Marvel and DC would both just let EG and Joker be their swan songs and let people revel in them for years. I can't believe I just watched

Bruce Wayne's parents get gunned down in an alley
for like the 5th or 6th time now and that this version not only wasn't tired but actually topped them all.

I also can't believe that Phoenix stepped into both the shadow of Ledger *AND* Endgame and turned in a performance that incredible. I was blown away.

I?m actually very fascinated with the controversy over Joker.

A movie that many were afraid it would cause violence by white conservative incels with guns actually has a hardcore liberal anti conservative plot some might even say specifically anti MAGA (be best) because he kills a guy that heavily resembled one of Trump?s kids.

I?m actually surprised that super MAGA Clown loves this movie lol

I didn't see a plot that was anti-conservative. Thomas Wayne was clearly reminiscent of Trump with the clown mask rioters standing in for far left Antifa anarchists. It also wasn't afraid to show that someone who is mentally ill with homicidal tendencies will kill someone with whatever is in their hand, regardless of whether it's a firearm or not.

That being said I do think it was cool that the film portrayed Thomas Wayne as being more abrasive than necessary and that it showed that economic classes and people of both light and dark skin contributing to the city's chaos. A great film challenges *everybody* to look in the mirror instead of just "preaching" to one group or side. And this was one hell of a great film.

I haven't heard of any plans amongst my family or friends who are going to see this. And with all the incel paranoia hoopla it's most definitely not one I can go to see by myself. We don't have guns over here so no one would be seriously worried about that but....people would laugh at me :lol

Did everyone see the footage from the set of Joker where JP seems really down depressed and angry because he?s arguing with the cinematographer over a nick name ?Cher? that the cinematographer came up with for JP.

That was supposedly staged.

Just go and be sure to laugh hysterically at random times throughout the movie

And wear a backpack.

Pretty good, right? This really should be DC's new direction for their comic films. Make films, not movies. Let Marvel have the movies.
