Its also where you find the the alien blaster and ammo.

Anyone else see where Bethesdas parent company Zenimax bought out id?
The maker of Doom and Castle Wolfenstein.

ZeniMax Acquires id Software
Bethesda's parent company buys the FPS powerhouse.
by IGN Staff
June 24, 2009 - Today Zenimax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks, announced the acquisition of id Software, creators of Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein. This deal gives id access to Zenimax's considerable publishing support and gives Zenimax access to the id catalog. id's existing publisher commitments, such as EA's rights to Rage, will be honored but all future titles will be published by Bethesda. No new titles have been announced.

id Software founder John Carmack will continue on as technical director of id and, according to the press release, "all the principles...have signed long-term employment contracts." Gamers can expect that the day-to-day operations and overall development direction will not be adversely affected by the acquisition.

id CEO Todd Hollenshead explains the benefits of the merger:

"This was a unique opportunity to team with a smart, sophisticated publisher like Bethesda Softworks where the interests of the studio and the publisher will be fully aligned in the development and marketing of our titles. In addition, we will now have financial and business resources to support the future growth of id Software, a huge advantage which will result in more and even better games for our fans."
John Carmack adds that the acquisition will allow id to grow and expand and will give multiple teams the opportunity to benefit from id's technical research and development.

Financial details of the acquisition have not been released.

AWESOME! I heard about the alien ship but I never looked up where it was because I wanted to be surprised and find it on my own.

They need to start working on the next Elder Scrolls, which I assume they are.

They said ES 5 wont be out anytime soon.
I think a final expansion via Shivering Isles will come out for Fall out and then theyll move on.

Assuming you meant a final expansion of Fallout 3 LIKE Shivering Isles will come out in fall then they will be done with Fallout 3 and move, if that isn't want you meant then I have no clue what the hell you are trying to say. :)

Thats exactly what I meant, so why did you ask about more Oblivion?
:D
Not to belabor...

I haven't gotten any of the extra content for Fallout yet if you can believe it. I haven't even finished the original main story yet. :lol I figure I'll download all the content at once and play through it. :D

The last downloadable expansion for Fallout 3, dubbed Mothership Zeta, has been given a release date for the Xbox 360 and Windows PC versions. Those on a Microsoft system can expect to find it available for purchase on August 3 for 800 Microsoft points (US $10). No release info was given for the PS3 version.

Mothership Zeta takes players to outer space on an alien abduction. The distress call from the fallen UFO that players could track down in the main Fallout 3 game turns out to be much more in this download as players get beamed aboard an alien spaceship. There, they'll meet new characters, both from the Wasteland and Earth's past, also being held by the aliens. These folks can be teamed up with to scheme up an escape plan, hopefully before the ship aims its weapons at Earth.

New weapons and armor are promised including the Alien Atomizer, Alien Disintegrator, Drone Cannon, Gemini-Era Spacesuit and Samurai Armor.

I actually just found the downed spaceship 2 days ago. The alien blaster is a badass weapon. Unfortunately the condition degrades pretty quickly. So far I only have one DLC installed and that is the one that allows you to continue after the main quest. I will get the others after I beat the main quest.

We ask DLC Producer Jeff Gardiner about Mothership Zeta including new weapons, the action vs exploration balance and refilling the Alien Blaster...

So when and where does Zeta fit into the events of Fallout 3? How will players discover the Mothership?
As with the previous DLC, there will be a radio broadcast... this one is unintelligible, however, and will lead the player to the alien crash site they may have already found in Fallout 3. The player will then find themselves aboard Mothership Zeta, in Earth's orbit. Let's just say it won't be the friendliest of greetings. From there, they'll meet other abductees, and plot their escape. They'll have to explore and exploit the alien ship- and even spacewalk to escape!

We've already seen the Alien Blaster in Fallout 3 - will there be new technology for gamers to play with?
Most definitely. The player will have a handful of tasty alien technologies to play with. There are new fire arms and melee weapons, which will comprise the most powerful weaponry in the game.

Is this going to be the place to replenish ammo for the Alien blaster?
Yes, but it's still in limited quantities.

With the Mothership responding to the distress beacon of Recon Craft Theta, will we find out the back-story of Theta?
Yes of course! Let's just say that the aliens don't have the best intentions for mankind. Players will be able to see the aliens interacting with their environment and themselves - eventually they'll uncover their nefarious plot, but not without the help of the other abductees. Let's just say, the aliens have been watching the planet evolve for quite some time...

Will the bulk of DLC take place on the mothership?
Yes, nearly all of it.

What was the design process for both Mothership and the aliens?
We already had a number of concepts to work with, including an alien corpse. The fit for DLC was natural, we're able to explore and experiment with things we weren't able or willing to on the main game. Going to an alien mothership is perfect for this type of content.

What's the focus - are we talking more action, like Operation: Anchorage, or an exploration-ridden affair?
There will be elements of exploration, and the ship is not linear - however it is an action-focused DLC. As mentioned, the player will also have to elicit the help of others whom have also been captured.

How long, in gameplay hours, is Zeta averaging out at?
Too early to tell in this stage but it should be on par with the others we've done to date.

What lessons from the first three DLC packs have been applied to the design of the next two?
We're trying to focus on what's best in our game, and bring the fans more of what they desire. With Zeta, we figured we'd have done four DLCs by that time and we should try to do something really different for that last one. And thus, the alien abduction DLC was born.

The release of a Game of the Year edition suggests this truly the last DLC you're doing for Fallout 3. If so, what's the consensus of what you've achieved?
We're very proud of Fallout 3 and the DLC. It's very rewarding to have been able to introduce such a rich, exciting world to so many new fans.

Wow, thanks for that very informative post Rex! I really appreciate it. I'm sure all the other Fallout 3 fans here do too. I've got all of the DLC for it so far, but I'm taking my time finishing the main quest/storyline game first. I'm at about mid-level 16 now, and going the completely "good guy" path in the game, being that it is my first time through the game.

I love this game! Definitely up there in my personal TOP 3 Xbox 360 games...next to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion! I'm so happy to see that so much great DLC has been made for this outstanding game! :D

The Mothership level seems like a jump the shark thing.

I'm stuck with a bug on Broken Steel. There is a ramp that is supposed to come down from the crawler at the airstrip, but it won't show up grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
