As a kid, I wasn't sure who that third ghost was supposed to be. Looked like Uncle Owen to me....

I like the majority of the changes. Hate the wampa. Hate that Jar Jar has the last bit of dialogue ever spoken in Star Wars- "Weesa free!!!"

I love Ian as ESB Palpy. No eyebrows on Vader make him look even more like a boiled egg, but still looks really cool. I really like the new music at the end of ROTJ. It starts as children and ends as adults singing. It's a reminder of the generational progression of the films to me. Personally, I love Jabba in ANH now that he's the TPM model and not the horrible one they originally did. And I still don't think Greedo getting a shot off is such a big deal. Same thing happens in wild west showdown films. They seem to draw at the same time, we see them both fire, a beat, and then one drops dead. Just sells the western pinnings of the character more.
I absolutely would not be opposed in any way to CG Yoda showing up in the OT. There it is.

There was no reason to change Fett's voice in the first place just because he's a clone. He's still an individual and influenced by his life experiences. He lost his father at an early age and didn't hang around other clones so he could have easily been influenced by other vocalizations. Like taking some Canadian kid and bringing him to Texas...in a week he'd be "tawkin like dis".:D

I just read on SS web page that they are going to sell for $30 EACH!!Thats $90 for the set..I though they were going to be sold at a "bergin" price??How do you fell about that?

I saw this news, and I think people are missing out on one of the most exciting parts of the announcement: Star Wars: Lego the original trilogy is coming out the same day too! Star Wars Lego is probably my favorite game for the x-box, and I can't wait to get the new one.
Agreed. I loved the first game and can't wait for the OT version.

The Clint Eastwood aspect of the voice is still there, so I'm fine with it. Boba's accent was pretty damned thick in the PT, so it stands to reason he'd retain it. And in film, there is very little opportunity to explain to the audience who some of these minor characters are. Until we hear Jango's voice coming from the red and green helmet, he could be any schlub in Jango-y armor. When we hear the voice, we know that this is that kid we saw clutching his father's helmet at the end of AOTC. In the scheme of things, Boba is a reasonably minor character in the series, but future audiences would wonder why Boba sounds so different from his genetic donor and the kid who played him innitially in AOTC. Makes sense, no?

I suppose... but I still like the original voice better as I grew up with it. It had a good, cold, heartless swagger...and the delivery of the lines (all five of them) was better IMHO. Agreed though, I can see why Lucas did it and it does make sense to connect the character in that way. Still...

I think changes such as Boba Fett being voiced by Temuera Morrison and Ian McDiarmid playing the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back are OK but a lot of the other stuff was either totally unecessary or poorly executed. I certainly didn't like seeing Hayden Christensen at the end of ROTJ and a dodgy CGI Jabba The Hutt in ANH. Though I own the original versions on VHS,it'll be nice to have a decent set on DVD as the bootleg set I got off ebay a while back wasn't the best quality. I wonder if next year GL will release a 30th Anniversary edition of ANH with more changes?

Yeah, I'm surprised George didn't save this 'original's on DVD' release for 2007's 30th anniversary of ANH...

Oh, I'm sure he has something for the 30th and plans to dip well into our pockets for that.

I'm thinking that's the retail price. Will probably sell for $15-20 each.

All the PT DVD's were also $30 each, and the majority of DVD's that come out today are the same price. You'll get them for about $15 each if you shop around.

Remember, these also contain the SE's, so you can sell those if you have them. It will be interesting to see if "Empire of Dreams" is on this set. I doubt it. I'll probably just sell the original 3 DVD's separately.

Well, I understand WHY Haden showed up instead of Sebastian, but if Anakin is redeemed, isnt it just a plausible that the OLD Anakin was brought back from the darkside? Wasnt the whole scene and purpose of it to show that something of his former self remained? Again, that and "floatie" Han are my deepest regrets of the SEs. Everthing else I love, Jedi Rocks, last song, all of it. Though, I am/was rather fond of the Ewok song at the end of the OT ROTJ. Sure would like to see it return in same for or another, so this is a good thing...,..I think......I wonder how many SW DVDs of the same movies Ill end up with....?

Exactly, that is the key part to ROTJ.

"There is still good in him."

It was Anakin that saved Luke from the Emperor and that had the conversation with his helmet off on the Death Star II.

No way Hayden should have ever been in ROTJ.

Horrible.

Besides the music scene at Jabba's, this was the only other thing that really bothered me about the SE. I've never liked seeing Hayden there with Yoda and Obi.

But you know you'll want the boxed set, with the "bonus" DVD.

I don't think there is a boxed set for these. At least it hasn't been announced if there is. I'd be interested to know if all the bonus material will be on these new discs so I can sell my current version if I decide to get this. Who am I kidding, of course I will. I'm your bitch George, I'm your bitch!

$30 retail is steep, but they also said the 2004 box set was $70 and I never saw it sell for more than $50. I don't like a lot of aspects of the SE's, to many unnecessary and frankly stupid changes IMO. However my annoyance with them is much subsided now that the Originals will finally be released on DVD. I don't care how far George takes his vision as long as I get to still watch the originals on whatever the current media of the day is... my teat is ready for milking :rotfl

They never should have changed Boba's voice. The obvious reason for it sounding different would be the helmet/speaker combo, similar to that found with Vader and with Leia as Bousch (sp). I thought the original raspy voice was perfect.

The change to the Han/Greedo scene where Greedo shoots first is about as bad as Spielberg's switching out the FBI agents' guns into walkie-talkies in "E.T." - Ridiculous and weak.

Inserting Hayden into the final "ghost" scene was another weak move but I understood Lucas' wanting to link the two trilogys.

The originally deleted scene with Jaba visiting Han at the hangar bay should have remained deleted. That was bad. Real bad. Jabba looks terrible and the whole scene just doesn't work.

This set should cost no more than the last one. I'll probably pick it up when it goes on sale after several months. No rush. I may even skip it, altogether.

Yea 30 is suggested retail price which is almost the price for most dvds. You'll find em at Best Buy for 16-20 bucks.

...or the DVD's may skip you.

the article i read said all three movies are being sold individually, will cost $30 each, and will only be sold for a few months.
