Good review, the paint job is beautiful. If I had the skill then I'd probably be tempted to do something like that myself but as I haven't I'll just have to stick with silver though. :)

Ah, what could've been. Sigh.

Well, I have to say...since I now finally have him in hand that all are right: In hand he´s TOO silver. Like, really bright.
But...I´m just taking pics and the Osram lights I use + my cam (Nikon D3100 with Tamron Macro lens) really tickle out those hues all over the place.
It looks SOOO great and the articulation really kicks ***.
Pics tomorrow I guess, I need to inspect this further.
:lol :rock

I watched Robocop recently and in some shots he looks all silver, but in others he has a little blue and purple. Did they use different suits or did it look different based on the lighting?

I think they used some sort of photo-sensitive (flip-flop in germany, used on cars often) stuff AND lighting.
Really impressive what you get out, under LED lights.

Hey guys.
Also got this figure today.

No complaints so far...
But I pulled the torso up so I can use the articulation points in the torso but it seems the torso can't be pushed back to it's fixed state.

Anyone of you guys have an idea?

Just try with a little more power. You´ll get there.
It´s a stury fig, I needed a little more too, but it´ll come together just fine.

Yeah, I was taking photos a while ago and I noticed that Robo was looking a lot less silver and the hues were more apparent.

The coloring is all about the lighting. The silver is really reflective so it could look extra bright in well lit areas, and in dimmer areas you can see the iridescent undertone when the light hits it at the right angles.

Same here and I didn't bother forcing it back. I actually like the added height that it gives him so I leave it extended

I pushed really hard and it snapped back in.
God, that figure is a beast!

Received my replacement arm yesterday. The furniture of law enforcement is back in one piece.

Despite everything, this is still probably my favourite thing I've ever spent money on.

Here you go, guys :)

Really beautiful and since you said that painting is what you do for a living.
Thought so! Your R2 repaint looked right away like you know what you´re doing.
Already said, but here´s again: Great job, dude.
:hi5:

On a side note: Just finished my pics, will pull´em on my pc and touch´em up a bit, but...under the right light...those colors are really treated wrong.^^
I bet real suit didn´t look THAT much different and Verhoeven spent a lot on lighting.
LED´s are pulling out so much of the R1 colors. It was really fun to capture them in photographs.

I know. I was just joking around. ;)

thank you! I'll be showing Robo1 repaint early next week I think.

Oh I can assure you the original suit looked nothing like the HT paintjob.

In my opinion when you need to play around with lighting to get the desired effect on a paintjob then something's wrong. But of course if you put it on your shelf with correct over head lighting you can get a very cool result.

Damn, if it´s just going to HALF as good as your R2, it´s gonna blow HT´s paint away.

Yeah, sure, you´re probably right, but in Hollywood lighting is often a source of better looks.
The color´s not the greatest, but it looks cool, but can´t wait to see your repaint.

Looking good, man! :duff

Spot on about Robo. Despite the flaws, I never thought as a kid almost 30 years ago we'd ever get something like this.

Agreed. Whenever I look over at this thing in the cabinet, I feel like a kid watching Robocop way too young for the first time again, and hear the theme music running through my head.

Now I've got that huge tube of silicone grease, maybe I should get ED-209 too. Be a shame to let it go to waste :monkey3
