Iconic in the modern sense. The first scene with grown up SL in it is pretty awesome with some great cinematography, especially the slow-mo jump at the end

Someone will probably customize it, cut it short and sew it back up nice and new.

Customisation is viable, there's a seam right where you'd cut it off. I've been looking around for a 1/6 leather jacket to re-colour and customise but having trouble finding something reasonably priced. The closest so far is this:

It's not perfect but it's doable, if I could get a decent repaint

Little off topic but people were complaining about the lack of holsters for Star Lord's blasters. Looking at the promo pics, I'm seeing what look to be holster straps with little "metal" bits at the end which probably lock into the blasters somehow. I just figured they were going to use magnets to attach them to his hips but I'm pretty sure we're going to get proper holsters on him. Ok, carry on.

I'm what, like three months late?

I finally watched GotG last night and the movie left me wanting more! It was very different from what I expected and I'm glad I never watched the trailers. Now I want all five figures too

Star-Lord is a must buy but they need to include the short jacket. Considering he hardly wore the longer coat I find it strange that all of the movie figures chose to use it.

It would be nice if they included both coats but I wouldn't hold my breath for that. Personally, I think the Ravager trench is a better look overall. Quill's character is introduced wearing the trench so for me, that's the more memorable look. Plus the tailoring and weathering on it is just insane. Have you seen pics of the back side? There's a piece that looks like it was ripped off then stitched back on. I'm sure somebody will come out with the short coat or we'll see it as a ToyFare EX next summer. I'd be down for that as you can never have too many Star Lords.

I've yet to attempt painting any clothing. Do you use regular acrylics or are there specific paints used for clothing?

In my opinion, painting clothing looks bad. I have yet to see any painted clothing that doesn't look like cloth that has been painted. Dying is the way to go, but it can be difficult, if not impossible with some materials.

They all had more than one different costume, except for Groot lol.
I'm glad they have Gamora's first outfut rather than skirt she's wearing at the end.

I was thinking of spraying it but I'd need something that is thin but durable. It would probably end up looking gash lol
My wife suggested bleach and then a red dye but I think it would lose the leather look.

Quick question, I've bought 3 pieces from SSC and as far as I'm concerned they don't charge anything until the figure is ready to ship...correct?...so if I hit the buy button on this figure I don't have to worry about paying till the day is released...just wanna make sure

Yes, that's correct as long as there is no NRD and Starlord doesn't require a deposit.

Got an email from Sideshow about my waitlist, saying they will have to cancel it since there is no more stock left. They gave me a nice option to get normal Star Lord, but... isn't the point of the waitlist to wait and see if orders are canceled before release? That seems a little silly, but at this point I don't think I really care. I just wanted that damn Infinity Gem.
