I found it interesting that Sideshow's e-mail announcing this figure started with "Rogue One baddie Director Krennic" - like they felt the need to state who he was, as if he's obscure or people had to be reminded. Maybe it's a byproduct of "too much Star Wars" that we need a reminder for even pretty significant newer characters.
The old Sideshow fabric Imperial cap was pretty damn good - considering it was like seven years ago and made by Sideshow. All I'm saying is that if they can get it that close that long ago, it would have been cool to see how a state-of-the-art company like HT would do it today.
I agree 100% in what you've said, though I have quite a few figures that have the caps and the fabric ones always have that slight edge of realism and quality over the sculpted versions.
It's harder to get fabric to look good and it will always have to be designed a little bigger than it should be. Sculpted means it looks right, is durable so it won't fall apart and it is easier to manufacture
