Yeah, to me that's the real issue with Jango. He's a cool enough looking character, but honestly his mere presence sucked away a lot of the mystery and cool factor from Boba. I mean, Phasma is basically a production drawing that got repurposed as a character because it looked cool. But, she still is (in and of herself) a pretty cool character especially when you factor in the book and comic book series about her. It's kind of sad we didn't get the original ending to the Finn/Phasma fight that was in the TLJ deleted scenes. Because I think that actually got to the core of her character (a ruthless survivor) a bit better than the finished result.

Yeah that might have been a more interesting ending for the character, but I think it probably also made her look even weaker with how it suggested she was hiding this big secret about her role in SKB's destruction, which then causes her own troops to turn on her. So ultimately I'm glad they changed it so she could go out being more of that fearsome and badass warrior we originally hoped she would be. Even if only for a brief moment.

Never cared for Boba myself either. He was clearly a marketing gimmick from the start...even at my young age I could see that.

Jango was a continuation of that marketing because they know it clearly worked for alot of people.

The costume design was cool, the character was a let down in every way. Kinda like Phasma. No wait , check that....exactly like Phasma...

Ok just assume they're both "Phasma".

But Hot Toys "Phasma" Jango Fett sales will > "true" Phasma, and dont forget "true" Phasma still rotting at retailers after 3 years even with heavy discount/promotion :)

Please watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKxG3BCVMKU Boba Fett is NOT like phasma at all!

Phasma got double Boba’d (taken out in a stupid way twice), so she’s worse than him by default, and unlike either Boba or Jango, never actually did anything of note either. She didn’t capture anyone, didn’t talk back to any Dark Lord of the Sith, didn’t have an action scene, she just walked around and then blabbed like a coward before being thrown down a trash chute; and then the next time she showed up she was summarily killed within a minute.

On top of that people paid Boba and Jango respect within the film universe in either regard. No one in the films themselves paid her any respect, not even Finn who outright humiliated her. How can the audience be expected to buy into her as a badass when the other characters in the film don’t?

I thought Phasma was the brainchild of JJ who liked the idea of a stormtrooper in the colors of the original silver-and-black Kenner packaging? Brilliant way to start a character. The name came from his fascination with the old movie Phantasm. Another brilliant Star Warsian move.

Phasma started and ended in a sea of bad ideas.

Good to see some people getting Fett's appeal. ESB Vader and Fett is the greatest villain pairing in the history of cinema IMO.

It just doesn't get any better than this:

Bob E. Feet does appeal to me. I really liked him in ESB, and think that he's an important character in the film. Jango I think was pure fan service, and while it was cool to see Bob's origins per se on screen, I would have been perfectly fine with him simply appearing in ESB.

I have one....great looking figure. Bought solely because of the look. ( as per this discussion)

Boba Fetts fanboyisms os just plane crazy considering his “lack” of achievements. The purchasing power of Boba and by extension Jango , is simply the fanboy fascination with this character , hung over from childhood.

Same for the rest of the bounty hunters. They are there for the scenery, not the plot.

I submit Greedo , Hammerhead, and maybe even Sebulba could sell as well.....

You know I'd like to nail to a cross any clown who utters the term, "fanboy". It gets on my very last nerve.

:goodpost: agreed 100%.

I really dig Phasma's design as well as the actress, but so much wasted potential. I really hope she doesn't come back for the 3rd one. It's just embarrassing at this point :lol

Phasma's best performance and plot she is involved in is in comic Captain Phasma (from series Journey to SW: The Last Jedi) where she is hunting a "traitor" who lowered shields of Starkiller base, betraying and backstabbing (even literally) everyone along her way. Movies just did an complete idiot from her.

Sorry to offend your delicate sensitivities..

But the word was literally invented for this situation.

How about Boba Nerds?

I love Phasma’s character! Even though on screen they gave her a, “I’m scary but not so scary because I don’t want to scare the kids #Disney” vibe. She looks bad &ss and in the short time we saw she and Kylo together I think they make a ruthless pair!
On a side note, I believe her chrome stormtrooper suit was the original concept for Kylo Ren’s costume. To me, that makes her look that much cooler that they used Kylo’s prototype for his first in command!
Even though she “died twice”, I really hope we get more form her character. Maybe even her own film.

Delicate sensitivities? Wow man, okay. I'm just tired of hearing the same crap over and over and over and over again.

Speaking of villains, Sideshow posted a video that came up on my Facebook feed of Kylo Ren's HT figure called "How to be a Poser." I literally thought they were talking about his character. :lol

Step 1:

Make yourself a red lightsaber

Step 2:

Wear black robes

Step 3:

Put on a mask

etc., lol

Saw that video. Would have been even funnier if he dressed Kylo as a Matt the Radar Technician. Ha!

If I strip my away my bias and ignore the fact that he retconned pre-2000s OT Fett, there are only TWO things I dislike about Jango Fett.

- the whole bizarre Zam Wesell and slug assassination subplot (why didn’t he just do it himself?)

Here's how i always saw it(Your thoughts are welcomed on my musings).
He didn't do it himself, because, Zam was supposed to fail.
Palpatine(Through Dooku, and through Jango, through Zam), didn't want Padme killed at that point(He needed to create a plausible reason for Padme and Anakin to slope off and fall in love). Dooku got Jango to find someone a bit more inept. Not totally inept, just not able to get to Padme through Obi-Wan and Anakin.
Palpatine still had a few years left to go till the plan was complete. So he absolutely didn't want Padme dead. He needed to nurture the love between her and Anakin and then kill her when it would do the most damage to Anakin, and bring him to the darkside.
Jango was sent(Probably without being totally aware), to make sure Zam didn't spill the beans(In the likely event she was caught by the Jedi), but to leave just enough of a trail(The Saberdart), so that Obi-Wan would find the clones(Just when they were about to become necessary), and start off the clone war.
His ultimate endgame was to spread the Jedi as far apart as he could(All the while surrounded by an army of clones who could execute them at a moment's notice), and the reveal of Kamino was important in that plan. The reveal of an army that the Republic did not order or pay for, at the exact time they needed it, so would sweep aside the "where did these guys come from???" questions in favour of the "Phew! I'm sure glad that army was already grown and ready to save us!!!" moment.
Jango killed Zam with a weapon that was kind of hard to track, but not impossible. That takes care of Obi-Wan and keeps him out of the way, and the assassination subplot forces Padme to go into hiding with a young Jedi who is already in love with her.
That's what i always took from it, anyway.
