The only thing Jango and Phasma have in common is that they're helmeted characters with silver armor and weapons meant to sell toys.

Love him or hate him, Jango Fett is actually a character whose action and presence propels the plot and story. He actually has some depth. He's also acts as a bit of fan service to Fett fans. Phasma does none of that and is a throw away character.

So true. Which is really sad for Phasma because the novel set her up to be a very cool, ruthlessly ambitious character with a great backstory. That all got trashed.

I will admit that blue Fett is far, far better than silver trooper.

Both are lazy creations meant to sell toys (regardless of how intertwined or not their stories are).

Yeah, to me that's the real issue with Jango. He's a cool enough looking character, but honestly his mere presence sucked away a lot of the mystery and cool factor from Boba. I mean, Phasma is basically a production drawing that got repurposed as a character because it looked cool. But, she still is (in and of herself) a pretty cool character especially when you factor in the book and comic book series about her. It's kind of sad we didn't get the original ending to the Finn/Phasma fight that was in the TLJ deleted scenes. Because I think that actually got to the core of her character (a ruthless survivor) a bit better than the finished result.

Ummmm

Jango Fett !

:lol

I don't get sucked into that bait anymore. ;)

People like what they like. I know that there's an outspoken group of 30-somethings who were first introduced to the OT by binging it on VHS and therefore saw a very abridged version of the pop culture icon that is Boba Fett, a character who died stupidly before their eyes before they could even process what they were seeing. He's "lame, overhyped, nothing but a cool mask, etc.," is a mantra that's been repeated for well over a decade by them now.

That's their reality, what are you gonna do. :dunno

OGer's know better. ;)

:rotfl:clap

I'm surprised no company has released a figure with the range finder on the other side. That's a screen accurate variant man! Money just left on the table!

lol

Hmm... not a bad custom idea considering I have like three extra HT Boba helmets (long story how that came to be) Hmmm...:lol

I love the look of Jango Fett for the reasons DiFabio outlined — he’s stylish retro sci-fi.

I have a very hard time purchasing because he’s from a film I find sub-par and I don’t like the way his character was written.

Yet his scuffle with Obi Wan was great (except for Kid Boba and the awkwardly firing rocket) and he looks cool.

That’s my issue with a lot of PT design. Love the Naboo fighter, Maul looked cool and had a great scrap, Phase I clones look retro and cool...but the films kinda bug me. Admittedly less than they used to, but to be fair I haven’t actually watched them in a long time. [emoji38]

So much of Star Wars — across all films — can come down to individual designs and set-pieces. It’s great pop-art but it’s not exactly high culture, is it?

Much conflict within.

I love how you call Jango's one major fight a "scuffle" and Maul's battle a "scrap". :rotfl

But yeah, that's my take on it. I have a heavily modded Hasbro Jango which I kind of like, but I don't display it often and when I think about it, I only like it because I simply consider it a Boba Fett suit variant. Like it's literally Boba in there. I don't display it with any connection to Jango's storyline/character in the movie (movies? I honestly am not even sure if he's in another PT movie besides AOTC or not - I think we meet him and he dies in AOTC... shows how much I remember of the PT) at all, mostly because I really have only scant memories of him beyond the fight with Ewan. That I liked because of the physicality of Jango/Boba.

The stuff with the boy Boba (and the clone thing) was such a total cheese-fest that I think that sunk the helmetless Jango character forever for me.

Yeah that was a poor choice of editing.

I never much cared for Boba...but after the retecon voice changes I pretty much dispise him...they make him a make him a clone? What stupidity is that??

There was much more to be done, leaving him as a stand alone bad guy.....imagine the possibilities of is back story...instead....nah hes just a storm trooper basically.

Priceless!! :rotfl

Yep.

If I were to ever fully embrace AOTC as canon it would be with the caveat that Jango had named his "son" after another badass warrior that he admired named Boba. The kid and Boba crossed paths and Boba slit his throat and took his ship and went on to work for Jabba the Hutt and Darth Vader.

Except that Phasma doesn't diminish any of the OT icons.

The sequels did that themselves.

Come to think of it, was any character or faction left unscathed? The prequels ****ed with Vader, Boba Fett, C-3PO, R2-D2, the Emperor, Stormtroopers, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Jabba and Chewbacca. Hell, deleted scenes even got poor Greedo. The Disney movies ****ed with Luke, Leia, Han, the Rebellion and the Empire.

Wait, Lando wasn’t harmed!

It's funny to think that one day, someone somewhere will screw with the Disney characters in the same way.

There will be that millennial child now grown up screaming because they brought back old Rose and then killed her off stupidly.

I hope they bring Rose back as a completely badass Mifune style take on a Obi-Wan character, like Lucas wanted all along:

Imagine her stalking down the halls of the Jedi temple, with katana in hand. I'd buy that figure.

Then they can 'Boba' her

It would be interesting if Rose turns out to be the daughter of.....

chirrut-imwe-gif-8.gif

I think she’d have to be in her thirties though in order for that to be true, which I don’t think she is. But hey, it’s the SW universe, nobody looks the age they’re actually supposed to be.

Uh, Disney did NOT **** with The Empire or the Rebellion. Rogue One is and will forever be the best Disney Star Wars movie by a long damn shot.
