Ahhh, I sold my Python Figure for $539 when 50 other people were trying to sell theirs, obviously it's all about timing and perceived exclusivity

Python sold out fast and now you can hardly make a 10% profit on it.

I don't see Tank selling out at all and it's will be like Stealth where you will be lucky to break even on it.

You're trying to flip your Stealth figure at the exact moment 50 other people are, what do you expect?

Its just about timing and marketing. People regularly sell items for well beyond what they should get. Even when there's multiples of the exact same item for cheaper listed.
There's a mkvii stealth that sold for like 700 while others much cheaper don't sell. image.jpg

Of course it's about timing

I sold my matched set of Icons Light Sabers (Luke and Darth both numbered 10,000 of 10,000) for $3k and then a couple years later got unmatched numbers for less then $150 each.

I just think the M7SM has peeked and I don't think Tank will ever peek.

I also don't think the exclusive DC Mark 3 will do very well and I have to off load one of the too

I'm trying to sell my Python now :lol

Any NA collector trying to flip recent IM dollie releases is years too late and whining about not getting paid on them is laughable.

I don't know what an "NA" collector is and I don't know if you're referring to me but I'm not whining about not being able to flip my M7SM.

I'm just trying to tell let jimmer7 know that not all releases appreciate and IMO I think Tank was appropriate named

I'm a fan of the armor as well, and I'm dying to set this bad boy up with my Heartbreaker. I collect comics, statues and HT's figures now...I enjoy seeing my collectibles appreciate in value but that notion doesn't determine my enjoyment one bit. I've just loved Marvel Comics since I was a kid.

That's a good point (per your earlier post - it's easy to forget about the shipping charges/ ebay fee/ paypal etc. that come with reselling these things. Not a deal breaker, but it definitely chips away at your potential profit). At the end of the day, I think I agree with you that Tank is probably not going to appreciate in value quite like some of the other exclusives have. I mean sure it may, but that's always part of the gamble. I think at the end of the day I'll end up passing on this armor.

It's very interesting how appreciation and value works when it comes to collecting. IMO, I believe it really is all about timing. I'm a collector who only buys what I truly like, so I really don't consider flipping/re-selling. Therefore, I will hold on to my collection for many years and try to keep them in the best possible condition I can. My goal is to eventually pass them on to my son, because in my family history, that just hasn't happened, my people just don't seem to think about things like that, and to me, that's unfortunate. Hopefully, by the time my son gets them, they may be worth a lot, especially if Hot Toys goes out of business for whatever reason. Something to consider fellow collectors!

:lecture:exactly:.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I collect for the love of this hobby. And my two sons age 10, 8 gets to enjoy it with me. I don't sell any figures for profit, unless I'm really bored with it and need funds for something else. I like watching my collection grow

I open every figure with my four year old daughter. She's more of a Marvel Zombie than I am. I don't think I enjoy many things more than checking out a new Hot Toy with my girl. That's why I buy them.

same same bro!:exactly:

I thought you'd be hard-pressed to find an armor more mean-looking than Heartbreaker,

but Tank's color scheme definitely makes him the most bad*** looking Iron Man armor so far.

The paint apps look excellent, which imo is somewhat reminiscent of Stealth Mark VII's.
