You know, this almost makes a person wonder if the (what looks like) paint they applied to the Batman Bruce Wayne figure's rubber body wasn't intended to seal the rubber from this sort of leakage. But, that paint came off real easy, so they can't win for trying.

This is leakage on 5 figures now, from 4 different people, that I've read about in this thread.

Well Mags, that looks dry to me. Whats that mark to left hand side where the edge of the belt would hit?

God eye! :google

I assumed that was just an impression from the back of the belt (which it was), but I just rubbed on it and now it looks like this:

So I think it was a little spot of oil.

Ok, everyone, I hate to be the be the messenger with bad news.
I just took the belt off both my bats to discover this. On both of them. The back of the belt was actually wet with oil.
where the plastic is coming in contact with the rubber, this is obviously why they ship bats with black paper behind the belt.

It's the DX02, Comedian all over again...

:(

And to answer Maglor's question yes he has still got the articulation. It seems that there is just a more sculpted piece behind his abs area.

So I'm having a tough time seeing the detail here. Is the back of the belt covered with goo?

No.

The 2008 OC Batman didn't have any paint, and has never had any oil, so that's not why they painted it (and if oil IS the reason they painted it, then they're ____ing dumb because the 2008 version had no problems, so they should've used the same material and process for the 2011 version).

The 2008 OC Batman didn't have any paint, and has never had any oil,

True. It's the only HT Bats I've ever had and I've never seen any oil on it.

Disappointed that after all this time, HT has not solved this problem with its plastics. Thought they would have for this particular release.

And considering how widespread this particular figure is going to be, this does not bode well for good word-of-mouth for HT over the next year or so... assuming this is indeed a real problem in terms of breaking down the figure over time.

So if they have a non melting rubber, why aren't they using it on all these? I don't get if you have something that works, why keep using that which doesn't....

This would be a great time for HT to launch the first of a series of Q&As.

It seems they make the stuff - throw it out there, then there's no real accountability apart from the usual customer service type stuff.

This oil thing is embarrassing for them, & infuriating for us - & I'm about spend nearly $300 AUD including shipping on one of these things.. I mean, what's their excuse, seriously?? :dunno

Yeah I don't remember the OC Batman ever having oil problems. The same goes for the TDK V1. They were fine and well made. My OC Batman is fine and looks as new as it looked when I first bought it. It's what, 4 years old now?

This '89 Batman had a shot for figure of the year and the praise it has gotten is fantastic. This is going to hurt it I'm sure. Though it's REALLY hard for me to jump to conclusions when mine has zero problems (so far I guess).

____in' Rory, first you tell the world that there was a second version in existence, now, oil. I HATE YOU!

:monkey3

I'm gonna hope mine remains oil free like my DX 02. So far so good. Then again, I haven't had mine as long as Rory. Then again, he just got his second one and that has oil too . . . ____.
