"Why didn't they perfectly emulate the makeup coming off on Ray Parks eyes"

Look at it instead of laughing it off. No matter the reason, that’s the way he looks and the way we recognize him.

Maul is a great example of a cool figure that I would want.....but at that price point.....he escapes “must have” status.

HT is counting on people with the “must have at any cost” gene....as long as we have them, prices will continue to rose 20-30 % per year.

Hence why they can charge 400 for the same old Iron Man (with new hat) . Its the Barbie business model and it served them well enough.

My collection is now limited by space as well as value. These are just plastic dolls, and unless you have a guarantee of income for life, eventually other thing will become more important to buy, especially when the average figure hits 400.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

Yeah. Great figure, best Maul so far but easy pass to me. This price is in polystone statue territory now, so no thanks.

Just noticing that this is a DX figure. First one in ages. Too bad they didn't give him the interchangeable, robot chicken legs. That would make this a buy, but without it, **** this figure.

I like the laughing maul head. Maybe when he was off screen he was really friendly with a marvelous sense of humor?

The fact that the open mouth sculpt will have movable eyes, I think we can get some unique looks with him.

So I’m giving HT’s concept a chance

I really do feel bad for them. They are just eating those price tags now. And the Quality Control has to be an issue. Mostly concerning scuffs.

Too many to name. It was easier just to list off ones I didn’t have an issue with. :lol

True prices have become ridiculous for IM figures. I collect Star Wars and Marvel so it's a great time time to be a collector but also a nightmare because there is just so much from both. I have been passing on a lot of stuff due price and space. There is no QC issues with IM figures that i have heard of and i have well over 30, if someone has a scuff it's from misuse.

Hot Toys, quite frankly, is overrated. Their QC issues aren’t much more tolerable than Sideshow’s. I’ve had pretty significant issues with the last five damn figures I’ve received.

In fact, the last time I actually had a good experience with a Hot Toys figure was when I got Dr. Strange.

At this point, Hot Toys is often only a step up from Star Ace and ThreeZero. Pretty soon even Asmus will be a better company. Their dedication is astounding. They actually listen and adapt. We’re STILL dealing with dye bleeding fabrics from Hot Toys, as well as that cheap *** “flakey” pleather ****. Absurd.

Honestly I’ve had about the same amount of QC issues with HT as I have with SS figures, but since HT are supposed to be the higher quality figures, and they keep raising the bar on pricing, I find it less acceptable from them.

Admittedly, I’ve been priced out to the point of only buying a few figures a year at most. But of the two HT figures I bought in the last year, one was just completely missing a part from a factory sealed box.

That's actually three DXs just this year.

Don't forget earlier this year the DX15 - Jack Sparrow

What seems weird to me is the Reg DX and Deluxe DX with Maul. I thought DX was supposed to be deluxe and only deluxe, even better than deluxe. So now there's a "slim" DX...?

I didn't even know Sparrow was a DX. . .I just don't pay attention to much of this stuff anymore. HT hardly ever produces a figure from a license I really care about nowadays. I've just about had my fill of super heroes and Star Wars guys.

Maul went quite crazy after the events of Phantom Menace, so a bit of sadistic glee is to be expected.
I've thought more about it this morning, I've already got some diorama ideas for happy maul. 1 is at my carbonite han solo bar scene with all of the bounty hunters drinking beer. The 2nd idea I've been toying with is maul with a tuxedo on getting married, i dont know who the bride would be yet.

That’s what I was thinking as well.

I thought the point of DX was it’s already a deluxe set? It’s like when people say ATM machine; so an automated teller machine machine? Is there now a deluxe deluxe set and then just a deluxe set?

Used to be that the only distinguishing characteristic of a DX figure was the googly PERS eyes. But if Batman really had independently moving eyes, then that theory goes out the window, since Hulk has independently moving eyes and isn't a DX.
