Great, I think I really will pick this guy up. The first lost hunrer is still a little "meh..." for me. I don't have the P2 Elder, nor do I have any hopes of scoring him, so I'm not getting Gort to recreate the whole scene; I just think he looks awesome as far as Preds go
. Guess this means I'll buy Mr. Black from "Predators" later on. Sigh, like Christmas -- assuming they come out that late. Hot Toys' timing is terrible in situations like these

Sideshow will so its not likely Toys2 will get it, or at least very many.
I just ran the price they gave on ToysDaily through a currency converter. 20,000 yen is equal to roughly $221. Now that can't be right. No HT figure has ever passed the $200 mark, nor should it when it first comes out. Perhaps it'll be cheaper in the US. It ought to be; maybe money is viewed differently in other places.
If this is the case, however, and I do have to pay 220 bucks for Gort, I might just back off. Seems pretty ridonkulous. $220 is what you'd expect to pay once the primary retailers run out after a couple weeks! Fingers crossed this isn't true! Just because it's an exclusive, doesn't mean that's a reason to overprice the thing from the very start. It's also reusing old molds, so what gives?

Then again, I'm really starting to get psyched for this thing! Prefused has brought me back to reality. Once again, I've no hopes of getting the P2 Elder... but if I can snag Gort and Borg, then those two together with my battle-damaged P2 (with Alien skull) will look awesome! I can see it now... I decided not to save up for the Avatar Neytiri in order to get my hands on more Preds. So instead of her being my centerpiece, that gorgeous trio of P2 Preds will be *starts daydreaming*.
BTW, anyone willing to part with their Borg? I've found a few places selling him, but I was wondering if a boardie could hook me up with a decent price. I can't really buy now, but sometime in the next few months, yeah (then again, maybe a dealer at SDCC will have one up for sale).

Nothing wrong with that as long as you're not one of the collector's that are just now getting into the Predator lineup. Otherwise, look into selling unnecessary organs for funding.

Note that those are Japanese retail prices in Yen (not Hong Kong Dollars), which are invariably more expensive than HK and/or the US. For example, the msrp/retail price for the Predator 1 in Japan was 22,000 Yen. Stuff is just more expensive there, especially items imported in Japan.

This will go nicely with my Predator 2 Elder. I'm getting one.
But do you not think that having those 2 but not the Elder will somehow highlight the absence of the Elder in your collection even more? That would be my fear. I can deal with not having him now because what I do have is a collection of the 'hero' Predators only, the primary representatives of both the classic Predator films. Its a nice self-contained collection where there is no "need" to worry about what I don't have outside of it. I feel if I bought Gort, cool though he is, it would just make me annoyed that I don't have the others.

And almost no-one in Japan will pay at the stated official retail prices (unless they are desperate). Most online and shop retailers are selling at 25 to 30% off... bringing the price more in line with other countries (Still not cheap with Yen shooting up in value this week).
Using you example Predator 1,.... you can get it for about 16k .. . However for these exclusives (Gort/T-1000 Sarah/Mk.6 bust), you may need to pay the full price at HT's booth.

I always just think about it like buying a new car. There's a "suggested" price that is on the sticker, but nobody in their sane mind will pay it so it gives the dealers wiggling room to drop the price enough so the buyers think they're getting a good deal while the sellers are still turning a profit.

Not having an Elder might suck if you are setting up a display that emmulates the group scene from the end of P2, but its not so bad if you just like the Predator and want to have him in your collection. Who knows, maybe they will do another P2 Elder at some point. A DX Elder??
You make a valid point, but I'm not at all trying to recreate that scene, nor does the Elder matter to me all that much. I'm thinking of getting Gort and Borg, because they have armor similar to that of the P2. They'd look fantastic together as a trio. And with each having a trophy skull (which the Elder doesn't come with), it'd be fine. I was never trying to complete anything. Just seems like a cool idea for a display

Sooo...... how much do you think this guy'll run for, considering he's mostly reused parts. Not saying the limited edition won't boost price, but it can't go up too high just because of that. I was thinking somewhere between $150-$170. Maybe $200 if you're unlucky and you get one off eBay the exact day after they all get sold on the primary market (and, of course, with that price increasing each day you wait).
