dedguy, you're absolutely right. when a professional takes it, with all of their equipment, special cameras, lighting, photo tents, etc...it will look a hell of a lot better than some random guy takin a photo. sorry, vodoun, but you're dead wrong. and imo the paint finish still looks absolutely great in those last few photos.

and that's a great photo, plasmid.

That pic is from forum member OMG. I don't even have mine yet! :lol wtf is taking HT so long with the bulk Mark III BD stock?

Anyway, I can understand what Vodoun is worried about. As far as Iron Man collectibles go, it's been hit and miss with paint application on a lot of products. I mean, if Sideshow can't get a consistent paint job on a $2000 statue and the first Mark III from Hot Toys had a lower torso that didn't match the color of the rest of the figure, there's something to worry about for future products.

The suit is basically skin tight and the human wrist is actually very thin, even on very muscular people which RDJ is not so much. My wrist is about 2.1"x1.5" (I keep a fabric tape measure at my desk). I'm pretty thin but even at twice that it's not a lot of mass.

All that said, I think both the biceps and the forearms are too long which is what imo is causing the appearance issue. If you look at the suit in the film though the wrists are very thin.

the suit was not skin tight in the 1st film...

and it's not skintight in the next film:

like i said, he should look like a medieval knight wearing an armor suit. spandex is skin tight. mech suit is not a spandex.

Well part of what might not look right is the simple fact that it's an articulated figure and there needs to be gaps for movement that don't exist on a statue and are much smaller on the real thing.
you may be right. i think there's some truth in that. however, i was impressed by ht's war machine. i thought the proportion is damn near perfect. mark IV is close. really close. i just wish ht could nudge it a bit more to the finish line.

The store display photo looks like its been hand painted, its clearly still in prototype stage and the finish isn't an issue because of that.

BAD NEWS ... I went to Toyhunter today pre-order MK IV and WM ... then ... saw all those IM product on display ... and walk out with 5 pre-order sheet (MK IV/WM/WHIP/MK IV & WM Bust) ... WTF:banghead

Here is my impression:

MK IV - The proto's red is not metalic or not so metalic, but i'm not worry, beside this everything looks so dame impressive, arm rocket is missing, promo pics are photoshop.

WM - not so impressive paint job, all matt and not so metalic, looks more like a Bandai plastic modet kit than a figure, but still great, and WM looks HUGE!!!

WHIP - I must say I am SHOCKED to see this on display, looks ten times better than the pics, TEN TIMES :horror

BUST - More accurate than figure, great detail and is much larger than I expected. For $50~60 is a pretty good deal

I was talking about the wrists. The abdomen on the first suit is also more or less skin tight. Sorry I should have been more specific.

Did you take any Pics :)..... Thanks for you input by the way......

I assume that the mkIV will have at least the same quality of paint as the BD III which is a-ok with me. The red shouldn't be metallic I don't think. The gold, yes, but the red is just red. It's like the finish of paint on a car.

MIV Warmachine and Whiplash displayed at toyhunters!

Thanks for that. They all look awesome.

War Machine is not shiny Metallic like Iron Man, so I think Hot Toys have got the right look for it.
No, War Machine is not shiny in the movie but he doesn't look like matte plastic either. There needs to be more variety in the finish. The same is true for the Mark IV and VI I think.
