*(#$) Everything had been going fine with my MK V, I had no trouble switching hands.. and then of course, today when I'm putting him away in his box for a bit to do some cleaning his right hand breaks. You know, where the black plastic comes off the light bulb and wires. @*(#. I'm getting so tired of Hot Toys crap like this. I mean, fragile is one thing, but I handle these things with the utmost care and this stuff happens. I think I'm going to start cutting back a lot on what I get from them, I'm getting pretty happy doing customs these days of non-movie figures.

Exactly, I didn't. I went to take off his hand to put him away, b/c I have the poseable hand on their and the whole thing just came off. I've seen the same thing posted on here before, but like I said, I've changed the hands before and had no trouble. Sorry, I have a temper, but it's just.. you pay a lot for something and then you're just screwed. At least with electronics you have warranties. Seriously, if Hot Toys wants to keep upping their prices, taking deposits, cheaping out, etc, I want warranties with these figures!

That really sucks. But Plastic can be brittle. It's a by product of the fact they have to heat it up so much to get it sucked into the moulds.
Unless you have only just bought it, i reckon you will have to search Ebay for a replacement arm.
It's a real shame it broke on you. It's a lovely armour. One of the nicest.

If it's glue undone.... Just glue it back... From the description it's not an actual break.

The part that's prone to actually break though is the hinge of the hand guards.

To own HT figures... Basic DYI is essential

Haha, yeah.. I won't buy Medicom simply for that fact (and the price! ouch). Well, a very small part of the black plastic "tube" broke off at the top, but it's a clean break. I might be able to do some glue work.

Yeah.. it really seems a ton of DIY is necessary with Hot Toys, which sucks b/c while I plan to keep them all indefinitely, if I ever did want to sell it's out of the question. At least at a fair market price. Oh well.. So far every Hot Toys Iron Man I've bought has had issues, makes me rethink the MKVII and anymore of them.

Hi guys

I picked up a pair of the articulated hands from the Iron Man Mark V figure for a custom I'm working on. Wondered if anyone could help me out with a bit of advice.

Has anyone colour matched the shade of red used in this figure? Is there a direct equivalent colour out there I can buy off the shelf (and if so, who makes it). Or has anyone produced their own version when retouching/customising themselves (and if so, how did you create it). And would a gloss varnish produce the required sheen/lustre?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
