Got one for $160. Perfect except for the same flap issue on the clean left arm that everyone else is dealing with it! Glued it back in place though, and looks fine.

Also, I'm struggling to swap over the middle rectangular chest pieces that go underneath the chest - I got it off easily enough, but putting them back on is tricky - any tips?

EDIT - Actually, the BD piece goes off and on easily enough, it's just the clean one I can't get to snap on properly.

DOUBLE EDIT - Aaaand figured it out. Just another Hot Toys feature which you have to be careful about, I guess.

Why do people keep talking about this being re-released with diecast? are their plans to re-release a lot of iron man armors or just rumors? Anything official from HT?

No just wild speculation amongst ourselves whilst waiting for something more engaging to discuss.

Just rumors, sort of. They announced all IM related licenses with the "DIECAST" logo... but it will likely depend on how the 3 IM pieces and robo turn out...

the new iron man movie basically cheapened this suit, almost all suits are able to be worn without the gantry after that movie.

Well one of the themes of Iron Man is progress and upgrade, so yeah, every new suit should be better than the one before it. The Mark VI didn't need the gantry either if you look at the alternate ending for Iron Man 2.

I didn't say it was a good alternate ending :lol

But it obviously did open like the Mark VII and every other armour after it. I mean, how could he have put it on in the helicarrier in Avengers? He didn't bring a gantry with him.

and then he goes home to change and uses the gantry.. :lol

Maybe the VI opening like the VII did was an emergency feature at first, but then he realized how awesome it was and just made it standard lol.

Can't believe I haven't seen that alternative ending until just now. I understand the change, maybe they should have combined them somehow, like that Whiplash being an LMD or something

It made sense to show the progression of the armours in Iron Man 2 from the traditional gantry with the Mark IV, the wrap-around suitcase with the Mark V, and then a self-opening suit with the Mark VI. When they changed the ending it appears they didn't bother with the advanced suit and just leave the suit-up sequence ambiguous. I'm betting Whedon loved the idea of a suit that requires no gantry so he used that progression in The Avengers instead, using the super-cool gantry with the Mark VI and then the rocket pod with the Mark VII.

There was a piece in the Avegners art book that talked about the *Car Wash* suit remover on the Avengers Tower. That the suits are such a huge part of Tony's life now, he is designing his entire environment around them.
But he was also foreseeing a time when he would have to suit up away from the gantry system, hence the MKV and MKVII.
And of course, in IM3, every suit has those same abilities.

That's how things have progressed in the comics in the last few decades.

In the 60's and 70's it was just a suit.
In the 80's he used the briefcase.
In the 90's it was an electro fiber that hardened? I forget.

Now it's a nano suit... which should be the next movie.

They are just compacting decades of comics into hours of movies.

I had my Mark V in the back of my figures on the shelf. I have since moved it to the front and re-fallen in love with again.

I remember waiting for HT to make that figure. It had been my favorite suit up until that point.

What a great design. I think both the designers and HT get kudos for such a nice piece.
