There is some amount of charring you can see in the proto pics.
Look at the damaged area of the chest and also the left bicep.

But I still think it looks too clean.
The helmet and legs need some scratches, dents, etc.

finally caved and bought this....it's so futile trying to resist HT's Iron Man 2 line. Hope it'll turn out as stunning as the Mark VI!

It's the trade off for it being displayable in both appearances.

I still think they could have included an extra helmet and swappable thighs.
If not an entirely new helmet, at the very least, a scratched and charred faceplate that can be exchanged with a clean faceplate.

Resistance is futile!

Well I already started this line, and I have a lot of predators (Neca & McFarlane...) I think I'll keep the predators cheep with those brands lol... besides the NECA 1/4 Predator are comming...:wink1:

and also the new photos of the Mark V, reminded me why I suscribed to this thread!
And the Mark II is going to be realeased again! and it looks awesome!

I think I have taken a choice! IRON MAN all the way! IRON MAN RULES! :yess::yess:

Battle damage bring this to the next lever. Nice right:)

Didn't the Mark V's armor have charred residue and ash on it from being electrocuted? The HT figure has nice battle damage but it looks too clean.
The Mark V suit went through several stages of damage during the Whiplash battle, as Vodoun showed in this post. Hot Toys opted to go with the second or third stage of damage. The figure is not incorrect; it's just early-on in the battle.

A step 7 figure will be wicked

I have to admit I don't like the whole 'Battle Damage' gimmick. Just seems like another way for HT to milk more $ out of the customer base, which seems all too happy to eat up.:thud:

If I had to pick I'd take the pure version over the BD on any armor, any day.

It's interesting that the legs and helmet even by the end barely have a touch of damage on them.

Whats wrong with these companies giving folks a chance to display things in different ways? I'm thankful these companies give us that chance. It may not be your thing and thats fine but thankfully companies don't listen to that and give us OPTIONS.

Josh I didn't say there was anything wrong with a company giving customers options. What bothers me about the BD is where I think the road is heading.

For example, the Mark VI included both normal & BD parts which I think is fine. However, in the near future I think HT will wise up and start selling full BD only figures, which people will probably buy right up for the sake of having a complete set of a line. That means collectors are spending 2x the money for the same figure, which is a win for HT.

The time HT would be spending on producing a second BD set for the same figure could be better spent on a new figure altogether imo. I'm probably getting ahead of myself with this but I think it's a very legitimate possibility.

People are buying two now though. I did it as have several others here and not on this board. I did it with the Mark V as well. So if HT wants to sell a non BD and a BD figure fine by me. If I want both I'll do it either way.
