I really don't think people have to worry about variation in the color of hair between figures. I think it mostly just comes down to how you light it and futz it. I was able to take some new pics below (with a better camera) and you can clearly see that the hair on the face isn't nearly as dark as on the shoulders, for instance.

In any case, I was able to do a bit more futzing and made a couple other changes-- I painted the lips more of a brownish color (although I'm not sure it really reads here) and also lengthened the bandolier by adding a little extension in the back. It's obviously not screen accurate, but it's just a temporary fix until I can come up with something better. :p

Got charged for this and Han today but no shipping notice. Hopefully Sideshow sends them out tomorrow so I'll get them next week.

Just got in Han and Chewie. I don't know what the opinion consensus is, reading this thread has caused me to want to delete the entire forum in the past - so I'm disinclined to revisit.

But these 2 guys, more than any other are why I collect 1/6. I've wanted these for over 30 years and I didn't even know that I wanted them. Perhaps there are some faults with both - but I don't think anyone can deny that they are some of the best 1/6 figures and some of the best Star Wars collectibles ever made and make me feel like a kid again.

Seriously - does his look noticeably different from yours? This "fur color variation" question has me a little stressed. Knowing my luck, I'm opening mine and I'll see a mouth/teeth amidst a ball of featureless black fur.:gah:

His looks totally different, I must say. Assuming its the bright lighting and previous overexposure. I'm looking forward to more people getting this in hand.

I know! I was all set to not order Chewie based on the face coloring but this one looks as good as I had hoped.

Now I have to wait to see more and hope he doesn't sell out before I can decide!

Wor-Gar...are you feeling a bit better with Chewie now that you've had a good look?

Oh I was never unhappy with him. I was a bit surprised how dark he was in hand, that threw me. But I've always said I'm stoked t have this figure. And I had a great time futzing him today. Playing with the fur does help "lighten him up" a bit, in the way the hair catches the light. But he's (mine) still dark.

the longer bandolier actually helps sell a life size costume better. Nice.

Han and Chewie arrived today... outstanding! i am boggled as to how far Hot Toys has pushed the envelope! BOGGLED. i seriously have a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact as to how incredible these figures are.

Remember all the hate these figures got when no one had them in hand :rotfl

Not to imply that these figures might not be perfect and aren't the best thing ever, but you have to take into account that when you spent a fortune on something it's a natural first reaction to love it no matter what. A few weeks/months later the rose-colored glasses are off and you can see things for what they are.

They've been home with me since September 10th... Not fading on me a bit. Personally, I'm sure if you check back with me in a few months, I'll still love this set.

Honestly, I've had them for a while now. There was some initial disappointment at first (unfutzed Chewie and Han's boots to name a few) but I thought they were great then and they've only continued to grow on me. I'm hoping Hot Toys is into this line for the long haul.

Looks great. I also plan on repainting the lips. I also will be drybrushing the fur in areas.

Good stuff davejames. :)
