"Light brown" :)

Well played sir. :)

Update....I added some more "light brown". :)

Thanks guys. :)

Nice. So is the fur capable of being combed/manipulated after your colour treatment? Or would that compromise it?

Yes. If the paint gets too thick, I add water and comb it out. The fur still ends up taking some of the paint and giving it the desired look for the most part. In the areas I had to add water, I did go back and add more light brown. I darkened the area around the eyes too.

Oh, I also painted the nose and repainted the lips.

Over in the Leia thread Vortex (I think) asked for some full frontal Chewbacca.

(So many jokes.)

Anyway, I found these snaps on my iPhone. Daylight, diffuse from a window, no filtering or colour correction done.

Nice! Now that, is a well futzed wookie.

Now if I ever bother colouring the fur, he could look better.

Not perfect but a great Wookie nonetheless.

Hard to judge where he falls in the line; all these figures -- Luke, Ben, Han and Furball -- have people divided.

Begun, the Nerd War has. ;)

And your Chewie looks stock too; no color mods on the fur itself. Looks great!

Edit: You posted that it's stock color, as I typed this post. Oops.

Thanks! All stock.

The fur has been combed out and re-combed to hell and back. Easily a total of eight hours in that figure, lotta trial and error, a little luck, a couple hours at a time.

I wasn't sure I would keep him, so I didn't want to do any mods.

I think I'll keep this one, at this point -- but I'm happy enough with it that I won't try to colour anything any time soon, if ever.

I don't know if they used multiple masks in ANH, or just different futzing...but after viewing many screen shots I think there may have been more than one??

At any rate, the shot he most closely approximates in-hand is the one where he's lounging by the Djerik (sp?) table. That and the one where he sits beside Han in the cantina.

Not exact matches of course, just close enough to vibe.

I have to say, whilst I admire some of the work some of you have done in combing your Chewie, I don't remember him ever looking like he stepped straight out of a salon.

I have a couple of guinea pigs. I find that their droppings simulate a wookiee's perfectly. Just take a dried pellet, hold it in your fingers for a minute to soften it, and rub through the hair strands on Chewie's inside upper leg.

My only issue with that is diet affecting consistency. I believe Wookies are canonically omnivorous; not sure if a herbivore's droppings will provide ideal consistency.

Anyone tried any alternate materials?

One has to make allowances for scale and acrylic vs. Yak fur; but he did look more groomed in some shots than others.

I never paid such close attention before, but (and it stands to reason) that costume was all over the map in ANH.

I ended up removing the pastels I applied with an aerosol compressed air duster/cleaner, but one day hope to return to mods on Chewie's face with acrylic. I really want to bring out the characteristic appearance that made Chewie, Chewie. I've been collecting reference pics online:

Checked in with my retailer, he 'lost' my order. :slap

So I am with the camp hoping for a ESB or ROTJ Chewie.
