The eyes themselves or area around eyes?

If you look at most movie stills, you can't see his eyes that well. The figure definitely needs highlight to the hair, via paint or makeup, to make the eye area look right.

I was thinking along the same lines, highlighting around the eyes. I have had comments like, where are his eyes or the eyes are difficult to see. I have seen some really great pics here where the eyes seem to be visible and not lost within the sculpt. But I do think it comes down to lighting.

I also have noticed that there are many different types of Chewbacca head sculpts. I have three different types some have thin hair and I have another version that has real thick hair. the one I like the best is the thicker hair on this other sculpt seems to manage better but when taken a photo the noggin looks bigger because of all the hair that this sculpt has

As advised; acrylics or pastels to lighten up the area around the eyes and also to form a better brow shape/colour tone. Also wet the reverse of a fine paintbrush and press and set the fur around the bridge of the nose to bring the eyes out more. A small amount of hairwax to hold in place also helps. That's how I did mine anyway.

I used temporary hair highlighter pastels. They worked really well. My chewie looks better after applying highlights around the face area.

Your Chewie is freakin awesome! Would you tell me which exact temporary hair highlighter pastels you used and if you would be so kind to give a little description on how you did it. I have been very apprehensions about doing any modification with mine, but you mentioning that it's temporary makes me feel like I can wipe it off if I messed up.

Here is my trade secret to highlighting Chewbaccas fur:

Applying water slightly to the fur and with the specialised chalk lightly rub up and outwards and then use a small brush/paint brush to blend in the highlights.

Then you'll have a much better Chewie.

I hope this helps who wants to customise their Chewie.

The more time passes the more I'm happy I went with the ep.4 Chewie rather than ep.7. The colors are better apart from the face needing a few highlights.

The wife bought off amazon mate. Was expensive or anything. Really cool kit to have. I'll be doing the same thing with the EP8 chewbacca!

Hey! What I've noticed is that the regular pastels would rub off in your hand whereas the hair pastels don't rub off. You can use a damn cloth to remove it. I hope that helps. Bri

They're apparently re-releasing Han without the head to save you the trouble.

Started working on Chewie's face. I'm using the Tamiya pastel set.

After finishing the other side I have to work on the blending but it's a first step.
