Haha, yeah, this line may just break us all. :lol

*thinks about adding Vader and Obi-Wan to existing pre-orders*

Regarding the banner above, I could really see Vader and Obi Wan replacing sad little Gordon and Blake monkey.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Can't say I understand your logic here. So they will release full prototype photos on Christmas Day (best case) then do a pre-order in March - June? But most likely you think photos released at SDCC with pre-order 3 - 6 months after... So the pre-order for ANH would be after Episode VII is in full swing? How does that make sense to you?

And your examples. We know with Professor X that it's due to likeness/licensing issues, so it's not relevant to any other release, except maybe something like Prometheus (in the sense it's something teased but we know won't happen). DX07 is also unique in that they were beholden to SSC, at the time. All of HT's recent pre-orders have gone up very quickly once they released the prototype photos (Han and Chewie, Stormtroopers, today's IM3 Striker armour).

I would be blown away if we don't have a pre-order by the end of January (and I'll be surprised if we don't see it this month), with the figures in-hand for Q4 2015/Q1 2016 at the latest. There's no sense at all in drawing it out. They want to burn through the pre-orders for the OT before Ep VII starts, I'll wager.

Anyway, time will tell, lerath! May we not speak of this again until the pre-order goes live!

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

The DX07 Luke is a poor example because the timeframe had to do with SS and their schedule. HT's license now is different.

Off-topic, do you have any info if Hasbro is still in the licensing picture here?

The story was that Hasbro has the master worldwide license from which SSC and Medicom "leased" from Hasbro, and now HT has Medicom's "sub-license". Do you know if that's correct?

Actually that is something I don't know much about. Sorry

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

I don't know anything about hasbros licensing, except what I read, but based on what's been released, hasbro has been making 1/6 scale, or more accurately 12" hollow ABS and PVC limbed plastic figures with 7 points of articulation for the mass market, while jakks has been doing 18" biker scouts, rebels figures, etc (20" vaders and chewies) and 31" large scale darth vader, inquisitor, clones figures in a similar manner, but out of polyethylene I believe.

Hasbro has the children's versions, or economy, versions of what the adult collectors already collect : 1/6 sideshow and hot toys, 1/4 premium formats and neca figures, and 1/2 scale legendary, not to mention the play gear to ready collectors for future prop replicas!

The marketing machines have their targets at every stage of life.....Disney had it already planned out even before the purchase of LFL, it's their speciality, since it's a matter of putting Star Wars through the same machine that knows how to keep fans for life.....

With the sudden SURGE of Star wars action figures on the market, Were i a betting man, i'd say that Disney might have changed that.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Hey, if i'm wrong, i'm wrong. I'm just as eager to see their first Vader as anyone else. Just their track history from tease, to reveal, to pre-order is usualy preeeeety long. Arkham batman anyone?

They change that, awesome.

since you seem to have insider info, mind answering a question about vader.

Rubber suit, or pleather?

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

My bet is HT got Medicom's license. Just makes sense and when's the last time we saw anything SW from Medicom? Their figures sold like crap and weren't doing LFL or Disney any favours by being on the market, so makes sense they either took it away from them or made renewing the license so expensive only HT could afford it.

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Hoping for next week. We just got Commando, Shadow Trooper and a couple Iron Mans out of the way, this week. Seems Monday or Tuesday would be the perfect time for the specs to drop on DV and Obi-Wan. :impatient:

Re: Hot Toys Darth Vader Sixth Scale Figure

Not getting nuthin tonight or tomorrow. Sunday late at earliest but doubtful. Feeling like a Tuesday thing next week.
