Finally got a chance to do some quick pics.

Great looking pictures!

This guy should be arriving tomorrow for me, so I'm thinking that I should probably alert his star destroyer to prepare for his arrival.

Great pictures.

But you shouldn't have set your coffee mug on the paper.

Haha, thanks. It was just some quick shots, I just threw a poster board over my table and took the pics. Didn't get to do much with the lighting, Darth Vader is not really pic friendly being all black.

I finally stripped Vader it to test the electronics and thankfully they work. What a PITA Hot Toys made it to install batteries and turn it on.

I haven't even tried mine yet, just looking at the instructions looks like too much work. I just installed the batteries for the lightsaber arm, not really that interested in the voice function.

I could be wrong in thinking that they don't, but I would have preferred the lights on his life support system light up and blink in lieu of the voice effect.

I'm not a price nazi but it does bother me that defective engineering over a really unneeded feature is driving up the price

The price was exorbitant to begin with, but retailers have been more than happy to stick it to us as hard as they can, too.

Case in point: Popcultcha store (the 'Official Hot Toys Distributor' in Australia). HT Darth Vader pre-order price was $399 (AUD) back in late November 2015; in December it jumped to $429 (AUD); upon arrival in store yesterday the priced jumped again to $449 (AUD). Absolutely obscene.

Given I could pre-order HT Vader at $299 (AUD) elsewhere (a price which has continued to remain at $299 at this particular store), Popcultcha can go #*&@ themselves.

I got mine today and holy crap that was the biggest PITA to get set up. All the electronics work great, but the belt wasn't sewn or glued or whatever right and won't lock into place and keeps sliding down. The name plate won't stay on the stand either for some reason. Other than that, I am extremely happy with the figure.

Slide the nameplate in and then up. It will grab after that.

I've tried that, but this one wont catch for some reason. Its not the end of the world or anything, just slightly frustrating after putting the figure together for a hour or so.

I wonder if the price jump has anything to do with their stuffing up a sale a while back? If they did stuff up their sale by inadvertently applying it across too many products they would have lost a lot of money. Certainly the exchange rate hasn't jumped around fifty bucks' worth in the period from announcement to release.

Yeah i can't get name plate to hold as well... This figure really requires a lot of work to get right but its beautiful once you do
