Vader didn't get working chest lights until ESB, so it's accurate to the movie.

Ah that's interesting, this is something I didn't notice.

From what I recall though, they were blinking in RotS when he was first shown with his armor. I just noticed that his tunic in ANH was over his shoulder armor, when again in RotS when first shown with his armor, it was vice versa. Same with ESB and RotJ.

Interesting to see all these little nuances I didn't notice before.

NP, Zen. Here's a movie still posted by Mandible, earlier in the thread, where they're nicely visible:

Wow, that's incredible. Kudos to Hot Toys for that level of detail and accuracy to the source material. Crazy to think after all these years, it's possible to discover little details about Vader's costume you never knew were there all along.

Thanks again, Invictus.

Awesome!

It's incredible to see how far the hobby has come since I started (got addicted to) the 1/6 hobby, around the release of the SS Darth Maul. I can still remember being on the fence about picking up the ANH Vader back then. In the end, I settled for simply admiring the pics of others.

They all look good, but Hot Toys has widened the gap, even with the leg and glove issues.

ROTS doesn't count

Agreed. Even as a casual Vader fan, there are so many differences between this version and ESB that I couldn't live with it on display like that.

i know what you mean. Still undecided if i will actually do it. But its nice to know the option is available.

But besides the shiny helmet, inner tunic, and chest panel... i don't think there are any more obvious differences. i could be (and probably am) wrong. But i just like the look of the tucked in tunic better. The figure is too pricey for me to do anything permanent. So a simple tuck of the tunic will do. At least until a ESB version is released.

I got the head, I got the head! I finally could get the Hot Toys head for my custom Vader kitbash.

Sorry to butt in :panic:

The price was exorbitant to begin with, but retailers have been more than happy to stick it to us as hard as they can, too.

Case in point: Popcultcha store (the 'Official Hot Toys Distributor' in Australia). HT Darth Vader pre-order price was $399 (AUD) back in late November 2015; in December it jumped to $429 (AUD); upon arrival in store yesterday the priced jumped again to $449 (AUD). Absolutely obscene.

Given I could pre-order HT Vader at $299 (AUD) elsewhere (a price which has continued to remain at $299 at this particular store), Popcultcha can go #*&@ themselves.

Where is this $299AUD?

What joda said! ;)

Exactly this. I've no problem with Vader except the poorly executed sound feature.
Seriously though Mr Paramoremcr88: could you see your way clear to letting me in on the floating lightsaber 'secret' I've been scouring the net & all I can come up with is either magnetic 'force' or 'editing' I'm NOT going to be using the soundtrack features due to the nightmares that I've read about on this thread so I'd like to add something 'different' to his display if possible. Pretty please, with sugar on top.....

Face mask and widows peak on dome, just to name a couple. Even though I have this, ROTJ will always be favorite Vader.

Got Vader in yesterday... such a great figure. Having owned 2 Medicom and both Sideshow versions it was nice to finally open up a Vader and not be initially let down by the figure. Just out of the box he's got such a nice heft and the helmet is stunning.

I'd recently finished cobbling together a ESB/ROTJ Vader using parts from the DX and ANH Sideshow Vaders, but this guy easily puts that effort to shame.

On the downside though, are the electronics. I was able to get the Belt boxes to work, but what a ****ing pain... and a fairly unimpressive final result :lol I have a feeling those batteries will be coming out before too long. Worse though is the voice function worked twice after I put in the batteries, then stopped. Initially I thought I must have flipped the switch off while redressing him, but after stripping him back down turns out it was just not working. So I assume he'll have to be replaced. The light-up lightsaber looks great though; hard to capture it in photos but I was really impressed with how nice it looked in a well-lit room.

Yep, seems kinda risky, too, with all we're hearing about belt bteakage and so on. I usually like to at least test electronics but the voice feature on these figures do nothing for me. Haven't bothered with the comparitively easy RoboCop, so there's no chance on this.

Vader didn't get working chest lights until ESB, so it's accurate to the movie.

Yeah, it's probably not worth the hassle to try and get the belt boxes to work, but still good to know if they do just for piece of mind. However, in my case even though the voice was working at first it quickly stopped and even though I swapped the batteries for a fresh set it still didn't work.

And good to know about the chest lights; I assumed that was the case but hadn't had a chance to look it up yet :duff
