anyone interested in selling their lightup lightsaber? I know a lot of people don't care for the feature, but I would personally love to have it myself! Plus I want to see if I can mod the hand and add the sideshow deluxe hand to see if I can get it to work!

I will then probably need the HT vader body, as I'm guessing there would be no way to attach the arm to the Deluxe body...

anyone interested, or have insight, appreciate your thoughts on the matter!

Sounds like a lot of work. If Pixel is still making his cathode versions I'd go that route.

My original saber arm stopped working, so I bought another from Toy Anxiety. However, I'm trying to see if I can get a replacement from SSC. If it happens, I will have a spare. I'll let you know if I'm successful.

I have thought a lot about that, but I don't want to dangle wires. Even though they look incredible. I may just drop the idea entirely. But if someone would be open to selling me (at a good price) theirs, if they don't want it, I would certainly enjoy to tinker and rewire it to see if I can get it to work on my deluxe. Beyond wanting to swap the helmet, using the lightup feature with deluxe gloves is all that's left for me to care enough about to change. I may just wait for an HT ESB, which is probably a better idea lol.

Cheers man! Sounds good. I would be more than happy with the faulty one, I'm sure I could rewire it as I'll be dissecting anyways.

I'm surprised nobody has figured out a remedy for the body switch / voice activation. Why not just swap out the switch? Or solder longer wires from the base of the switch and have those wires lead to a mini switch more accessible, ie outside of the back of the suit? Let's be honest, nobody is going to pose Vader bending over from behind with his cape over his head, nobody would ever see a re-positioned switch. I may buy the body and see if I can rig that as well. pff at this point I might as well just buy the whole figure and mod it to death lol

I already have a Vader; I purchased the SS Deluxe 1/6 scale Vader back in June. However, due to an unfortunate incident he now has a scratch on the "forehead" of his helmet. It's not particularly noticeable but it's there nonetheless, and thus is a considerable annoyance to me. That scratch, along with the poor bodysuit, had caused me to consider replacing him with the HT Vader. I suppose the HT Vader's light up saber is what makes it particualry alluring to me, along with the incredible detail. On the other hand, I've heard that this figure's electronics (the belt boxes) are a hassle, and then there's the issue of the easily broken belt.

What do you guys recommend? Should I just wait for Hot Toys to release a 1/6 scale TESB Vader? Is such a release likely?

Have you tried a toothpaste rub to get rid of the scratch?

I still have NO idea why Hot Toys' felt they needed to put the sound gimmick inside the figure.

They were trying to be clever and innovative. You can picture it, the discussions in the studio at the concept stage... the idea that everybody thought was so cool that even when the costume department flagged what a pain in the arse it was turning into they were brushed off.

"Mr. Chan, Mr, Chan, big problem with the voice function"

"Tell it to the sound and smell of my Ferrari's spinning rear wheels, costume boy!"

Yeh, housing the whole system inside a forearm is pretty cool :) I doubt I'll use it much though given it's a bit of a hassle to switch out the arms.

I fixed my first switch a few month's ago (housed inside my kid's fluffy toy) and I felt like a genius. I'm not going to overestimate my skills with a soldering iron to take on a $300 figure though.

I haven't seen any pics of the back of the suit - I'm wondering why they didn't just use a strip of velcro down the back of the suit that could be easily separated to access the switch.

In 2016 I'd expect an app-driven sound function. I'd spend hours of my work day making Vader sound like 3PO, Chewbacca, Jabba ... and talk to my colleagues only via the voice function.

"Stop playing with your toys, Lejuan - will you get that report done by c.o.b.?"

"I find your lack of faith disturbing"

"You'd better get onto it Lejuan or you'll have to stay back"

"When I left you, I was but the learner; now I am the master"

There are remedies, but they would require doing things to the body that I guess many aren't willing to put the time and effort into doing. The biggest problem I can see is that without reprogramming, the 15 minute time out is still a major hassle.

You can move the switch or make it easier to access, but with that programming (and non-functionality after 15 mins), you still need to remove and replace batteries to have it work again.

Picked up another/replacement belt. The batteries are already installed in the boxes, which is cool being that people have said on here they can be a pain to install. However, I'm not really one to utilize electronic features on my figures, so I'm debating on whether or not I should remove them before putting the belt on. I don't intend and would prefer not to remove the boxes off of the belt, as those can also be a pain to reattach to such a flimsy belt. Are the batteries in the belt boxes difficult to take out at all, or would you just leave them in?

Very easy to remove. Pop them out with a toothpick or tweeze them out.

The ANH was painted with gloss black and then weathered with gunmetal in various forms of covering thickness, ranging from nearly completely covering to just a light drybrushing. No clear coat applied on any of the pieces.

I did this a while ago. Not perfect, but has a bit of what the ANH armor has in terms of weathering.

Interesting. What paint did you use for the gunmetal part?

SSC still has this on preorder, but BBTS has it in stock?

This has been happening on some items lately. Seems like figures are coming in batches where Sideshow is taking care of some of their pre-orders and distributors first before having the item in stock.

Was surprised with this figure as a late Christmas present :clap Haven't tried the lights/sounds yet, but he looks very impressive in my display next to Han and Chewie. Love the cape, especially!

One more question: any trick to get the wire out of the tunic without cutting?

yes just feel your way around where the wire is and feed it`s way down the bottom of the tunic to when you can see the wire sticking out. it might get a little tricky as the wire is really thin
