Concerning the voice function, after the 15 min. time-out on my Vader I had to remove the batteries, re-insert them, and wait a few mins. before it would work again. No idea why. When I first re-inserted the batteries and it didn't work, I was ready to call SSC. But when I came back to it again, it worked. I can't explain why that it is.

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience for those who think their voice feature is busted; you may want to take another look. Take out the batteries, put them back in and wait a good 20 mins. or so. Then flip the switch back on. Make sure you have the batteries in correctly, and the switches are off on the figure and remote before re-inserting. This is what worked for me the two times I let the 15 min. time-out happen.

Hmm... should probably try again tonight or tomorrow.

My retailer and on other customer also had that problem with their Vader...

He's trying to organize new VDers for exchange, but if he can't get any he'll give me a refund.

Just got one off eBay from a US seller for 299.95 shipped. Gonna cancel my preorder with SS and see if I can move the NRD over to a Leia order. Since I've never asked them for this I'm hoping they'll say yes.

It took quite a few hits with a hammer before my dome came off the mask. (When destroying for Sideshow "proof" pics)

Has anyone painted the upper eyelids black? I think that would help the look if the dome isn't able to be lowered. Its also screen accurate.

I'm always like...."Nah....I don't need this version"....then a great picture like this gets posted....

Really love my Vader. For me, its not a placeholder - always love the ANH look - more 'down and dirty'

...and it looks damned amazing there. Dang it...to get or not. :)

How about some more pictures, Matt? See if you can push me over the edge.....

I think I'm going to have to get one of these damn vaders. DARNIT. I really wanna mess with the back wiring, with all the complaining it seems like a great fix to address and maybe I could do a tutorial for anyone who dares with a soldering iron. I really don't think it will be a big deal to do it. But I'll have to buy one first. I didn't want to get one, but the force is calling me :(

I also really want to mess with the lightsaber and get a deluxe glove to work with it. I was going to wait for the ESB Vader.. when does this guy become available for Coupon/Promo codes?

I was gonna just get a few parts off him and mash him to my deluxe but t's just too expensive to buy the helmet, body and arm separate, might as well get the figure completely and part/sell the remains.

For those who have both.... appreciate your thoughts here, for bashing... I'm leaning to the chestbox of the deluxe, and maybe even belt boxes, I'm thinking also maybe even the deluxe undersuit, stitching seams finer. The HT looks a little too bubbly, deep seams, like a thick northface jacket. What's the general consensus of the undersuits side by side between the two? Is one preferred?

Cheers

I have the Obi Wan and it isn't too bad, so I thought it's a neat attempt on the "lit up" lightsaber everyone wants. But I haven't played with the HT vader so not sure how easy that is, maybe it's a little different...

It's really as easy as your kid's toy! You can't really mess anything up... I mean I'd need to take a close look at how the switch is attached, but worse case would be you melting plastic for soldering sloppy. Otherwise should be pretty easy to swap the switch for something larger or wire it and relocate the switch.

I think Vader's sabre is a tad more effort to switch in and out than Luke or Obi Wan's, just because of how the glove and suit have to be negotiated.

I wish I'd paid more attention to my uncle when he tried to get me into electronics. But I didn't like him much, so my teenage brain switched off. Now that I'm older I'm more interested in electrical circuits and the like, but have sod-all time to play around with that stuff. I'm not so interested in having Vader talk, but I might have a go at reconfiguring R2's electronics at some point.

I wonder if that dome could come off by wrapping some cloth around the end of flathead to soften it a bit and tapping with a hammer

I'm gonna wrestle with it tomorrow and see if I can wiggle it free. Doubt it, but I'll try. Even if I get it off, its unlikely able to be repositioned like the SS was without some dremeling work.

Yeah, maybe just wiggling it back and forth will weaken the bond of the glue. I'm assuming that's all that's holding it on

Why are people apparently attempting to take off the helmet now?

I personally think it sits a bit too high. Was just curious what it would look like if slightly adjusted down
