Has anyone painted the upper eyelids black? I think that would help the look if the dome isn't able to be lowered. Its also screen accurate.

I missed this post....but yeah, that would make sense too in order to make the eyes less pronounced

It took quite a few hits with a hammer before my dome came off the mask. (When destroying for Sideshow "proof" pics)

Do you have any pics that show how the dome is attached? If so, they might be helpful in determining how to get this sucker off.

A few from me tonite.

Mine finally showed up. Enjoy it much more than I thought I would. The torture droid is much bigger than I thought it would be. Switching out the arm was ridiculously difficult and frustrating.

I haven't seen any pics of the back of the suit - I'm wondering why they didn't just use a strip of velcro down the back of the suit that could be easily separated to access the switch.

The back of the suit is closed with a Velcro strip. Problem is, under that is another piece of clothing with another Velcro strip. And this is all under the robe (which you have to remove the belt to take off). This, in turn, is under the shoulder armor, which is under the cape, which you have to take the head off to remove. Plus the switch is small, so getting to it is really hard. Overall an extremely poor design.

As has been stated, putting the sound function in the base would have been a much better idea. Or, leaving it out entirely and lowering the price by $20 would have been even nicer.

Everyones pics look great!

I havn't done any modding to Vader, but I wasn't satisfied with the cape and tunic, so i used my old Lforigno custom gear. Beautiful figure, best Vader yet for sure!

Sideshow does that "invisible switch" for finger-touch triggering electronics like on their 3PO and R2. It would have been perfect to put the sound feature/button-batteries inside Vader's helmet (so his voice doesn't come from his stomach or the stand) and have the switch be invisibly embedded in the back of the helmet or something. It's one thing HT could learn from SSC.

well got the helmet off of my vader. the is a big square in the middle of the head sculpt. so I guess if you can smooth the inside of the helmet it might lower it a bit. looks almost like the dlx vader dome did when you took it off

Take some pics of the dome besiade any of the other domes you have. Interested to see it next to the DX.

Yeah, I definitely tried that. Like I said, I was ready to contact Sideshow about the issue, but after waiting a few minutes it started working again. Maybe the time-out needs a time-out to disengage it. Bizarre whatever it is.

Hey. That worked for me.
Took the batteries out over night and now he's breathibg again. Yeah!

HTs QA at it's best...
