I've always leaned toward HT for obvious reasons but I've heard about issues with the belt being extremely delicate.

I'd say 10% or less had issues with the belt. Everyone who dared had issues with the body electronics at some point but those are stupid and childish so no need to play with those. Saber electronics worked for most everybody. 100% of figures arrived with silly glove design. The most important mod (moving the crotch piece up) is an easy and reversible one.
A home run like their stormtroopers this isn't, but it's still the best Vader out there. They all seem to have issues.

I don't have the SSC Vader, but I can say that the HT Vader is an awesome figure in my opinion. I haven't modded mine any, and I still think he looks great straight out of the box.

I bought an extra belt off of TA for $30 after hearing all the problems. The only mod I feel necessary is moving the belt boxes closer while raising the belt and the codpiece. I didn't pre-order him till after Christmas when all the photo's were coming in. I didn't want to wait all this time with all this anticipation to get him and then have his belt fall apart....
... I used most of my reward points. He's only costing me the NRD ($30) & the $10 S&H. So, $30 for the belt seemed worth it to me to ensure I was happy while I would've dealt with SS for a replacement belt if mine broke. I figured if all was well I'd either give it to my SS ANH Vader so he wouldn't feel self-conscious without any light up gimmicks next to my SS Deluxe & HT all glowy and pretty...
... Or, I'd just throw it up on e-bay since I'm sure I'd easily get the $30 back.
If ESB is your favorite look -- wait. HT will do one.
If ANH is your favorite look -- get this now. Or feel the pain after Rogue One when this figure is getting Loki/Mark I 2.0 prices on ebay.
If you don't like the ANH look for Vader, you will after Rogue One.

I'd be surprised if they didn't release a Rogue One Vader. Odds are it'll be the same sculpt, body, clothes, etc but with a different accessory. Instead of the interrogator droid it'll be something cool he uses/has in the movie. That or a dio base.
The exclusive will be "NOW WITH NO STUPID VOICE CHIP!!!"

If you like the look of ESB/RotJ (for the most part), then wait. You may be waiting for at least a year, but HT will ultimately do an ESB line; Vader included.
If you like the look of ANH Vader, then what are you waiting for?

So there's a shop in my area (North Texas/Dallas Metroplex) that exclusively buys and sells Star Wars collectibles. I'm going to see what I can get for my SS Deluxe Vader, 6" Black Series figures, and old 3.75" figures/vehicles. Maybe I can scrounge together enough funds for this Vader. I thought about it, and while I prefer ESB Vader, what's wrong with two Vaders anyway? Worst case scenario I'll have to sell the HT Vader to buy a potential HT ESB Vader.
