Yeah, the figure is actually pretty fantastic, stock, right out of the box.
But if you want him to look like he does in the move, modding is required.
I look at it the same way as what auto manufacturers did in the 60's with their "muscle cars." Stock they were amazing vehicles, but the manufacturers never seemed to take it all the way, they left that up to the consumer. If you wanted a great car they provided that to you, if you wanted an exceptional car you hade to take it there yourself.
Right or wrong, I feel like that's what Hot Toys is doing right now.
They still make the best 1/6 figures, and for most folks what comes out of the box is 100% satisfying, but if you want to make it look like it jumped off the silver screen, Hot Toys leaves that to you to do on your own.
I'm not sure I blame them either. That last 10-20% of accuracy is often subjective. It's better to leave that to the individual consumer to decide what choices to make. It's not a perfect science, but it's ok with me.
