I don't own a 1/6 scale Kenobi, so I am looking forward to adding this one to my collection. Despite his portrait being more refined than the wind blown hermit we all know (and perhaps looking 10 years younger than he appeared in Star Wars), I will be happy to get my mitts on this figure. Hopefully I can get ahold of a SS headsculpt and repaint it so I have the option to display both..

I wonder if you put this Kenobi between the last iteration of Ewan's Kenobi and the old SS Ben Kenobi if it would really look like each figure was 10 years older than the last.

But this OT stuff was clearly rushed out to make it, no doubt about it.

Figures are delayed. . . "BOO, Hot Toys you suck, you need to get your factory in check!"

Figures are early. . . "BOO, Hot Toys you suck, you need to quit rushing things"

:dunno

It would be interesting to see them lined up like that to see.

Not sure how my quote applies. I never said 'quit rushing things'. I hope they keep rushing. Faster and faster. Until we're just getting sticks with balloons on them, and I can laugh at everyone saying how realistic they look in hand.

Is this how we get to the point where everyone solely gushes when in-hand pics come out? We all have preferences about how a conversation or thread should go, doesn't mean they're gonna come to pass, especially when dozens of people are involved in a thread.

That is why each area has mods to keep topics on track and each thread has a specific topic. Makes it easy to find topics of interest and have conversations regarding the item in this case HT Kenobi. If folks have that much interest in SS Kenobi, he has his own thread. Kinda how this forum works.

Unclear the benefit of cluttering this thread with repaint pics of a figure which oddly enough has its own thread? If folks have that big of an interest in viewing SS repaints it is pretty simple to find the thread in search. Again unclear the gushing comment because I disagree with posting pics, I havent mentioned anything about the ongoing discussions or debates about which is better or the this looks like xxx person gags. Debates and opinions what makes the thread interesting :dunno

I can see why people are complaining about the likeness of this, but to me personally the realism of the repainted sideshows is just not there. I mean no offense to the people who own/prefer them. But among the other hot toys figures I think that they would look out of place.

But pictures are worth 999 words, etc. Everyone keeps talking about whether a repainted head is possibly preferable to this HT version (and the quality of repaints definitely runs the gamut) so a photo is not really off topic IMO. They're just posted as comparisons to this.

I'm sure if a mod feels they're that off topic they can delete them.

Apologies, the gushing comment wasn't really directed at you, misconstrued your intent.

Well, I have Hot Toys Obi on order, have seen Para's and others photos--very excellent photos, expertly taken, beautiful.

My takeaway: the Hot Toys Obi Wan likeness has a lot to be desired.

I just got my 2007 SS Old Ben this morning. And despite the 2007 SS paint apps, it has a FAR superior likeness to Alec G. Obi Wan from SW ANH--my opinion.

I will re-paint SS OBi, put it on the superior HT Body, with the better robe and accessories. I will be happy with this in my collection.

I will continue to appreciate the in-hand photos(both comparison shots of SS, SS/repaint, and in hand Hot Toys), and discussion that ensues in this thread.

Guys, I know it's a cliché but in hand there's no doubting the likeness. The Sideshow looks toyish compared to this which looks like a shrunken down Sir Alec Guinness. It's a beautiful figure. Simple and Iconic.
