Whoa -- you did not just equate Anakin with Michael Corleone and Travis Bickle AND Tommy DeVito?

That latter three had pretty good careers after those performances. How's Hayden doing?

The topic wasn't about performance but rather character. Anakin kills over a hundred people in ROTS and force chokes the woman he killed all those people for in order to save - out of rage. "Whiny" just doesn't fit with any of that, but PT haters conveniently ram it in there.

If a man who murders hundreds is "Whiny" then Bickle, Corleone and DeVito are little girls.

That sounds like a Michael Bay movie. Obi-Wan slaughtering people? That's not the Jedi way.

Not people. Imperials - which he killed a large number of in ROTS.

Thanks for the moronic Michael Bay comment btw.

I think he meant the actor, the performance. He did whine a lot about not being picked, not being able to profess his love in public, not being respected, not being a real Jedi...

He was upset that they didn't make him a Master, something Palpatine knew would happen when he put him on the council. His desire to trust Palpatine more than the Jedi comes from feelings of rejection. Palpatine offers him new powers while the Jedi tell him he's not fit to be a Master despite his defeat of Dooku. He never complained about the hidden marriage.

He was conflicted and furious throughout the entire film. Never whiny.

That's the funniest thing I've ever heard. Anakin is a whiny little boy. Remember lines like "it's not fair!" and "He's holding me back!" and "He doesn't listen" etc.

Whiny does not mean their capacity for violent murder.

Not people. Imperials - which he killed a large number of in ROTS.

He killed clones, whom the Jedi had always considered expendable cannon fodder. By imperials I assumed you meant officers, not stormtroopers.

You're citing AOTC where Anakin is 18 years old.

Adult Anakin, ROTS Anakin was nothing like that.

So the Jedi should spare Imperial Officers but kill clones? Anyone who aids the Sith is expendable in the eyes of the Jedi.

They're the same Anakin though. He still whined in ROTS.

And I never said that I agreed with their murder of troops, though killing is inherently a part of Star Wars. The whole clone trooper thing is creepy in itself. They're grown to die.

And that last sentence is creepy as hell. :horror

It matters a lot. Vader was a menacing, intelligent villain. He was said to have been a powerful warrior and great Jedi. Instead he was made to be a whining goon with none of the personality traits he shows in the OT.

I view Anakin and Vader as two separate people for a time in Star Wars (up until Cloud City, that is when Anakin begins to accept the lightside more and more until he is redeemed). Darkside warps one's personality traits into something different. So of course they are going to be different.

A whining goon? WHERE in ROTS is this whining goon? All I saw in ROTS was a conflicted warrior who became hungry for power in an effort to save his wife. Once he turns he becomes a murdering sociopath. Remind you of anyone?

"Don't make me kill you." Vader in ROTS

"Don't make me destroy you." Vader in ESB

People just love to hate PT Vader (and PT everything).
