If your wife is going to die and the people you trust with your life are telling you "Let it be" do you just let it be? Or do you entertain the idea that she CAN be saved even though its a proposal by the devil himself?
It had nothing to do with trust (something you clearly didn't have the foresight to see). It was about the possibility of saving her. If there was a chance he was going to pursue it and Palpatine sold him on what a strong chance he could give him. There was nothing moronic about his attempts to save her.
The fact that you couldn't decipher the simplistic plot of a man selling his soul for love really shows your epic bias. Dude, you weren't even trying to understand this movie.
