Yeah, I'm definitely convinced the face shield somehow raises into the helmet to reveal a larger field of vision. It looks like some sort of blast shield that covers the face when needed.

You're very close. The slit is not just for the sake of design, but is used to reduce the amount of UV reflection from the snow. The Inuit Eskimos would carve slit masks out of deer antlers.

Given the way all the guns look in TFA, I wonder if Han's blaster's going to look like this...

It definitely looks like Hasbro should be given some design credit for the color scheme of the TFA stormie/snowie rifles...

I do like this design a lot. I love that faceless quality the mask/helmet has. May have to pick up an officer just for kicks.

I agree with this, the new designs do say StarWars as soon as you look at them, and they're not just McQuarrie scraps. At the same time, I do also see the side of people complaining about "iTroopers", I just happen to be okay with that. I'm trying to be cautious about buying or preordering anything from this film without out seeing it, but I got suckered into buying a few Clone Troopers and I don't even like the prequels, so I think these are a safe bet.

So unlike the OT, the Snowtrooper commander seems to be exactly the same aside from the pauldron. I think a single standard Snowtrooper will be fine for me. I'm guessing the film doesn't have a version of the Sandie, but I am looking forward to the Fire trooper.

I love how these look and, as with the standard troopers, HT have nailed them.
I've ordered Kylo, Standard Stormie and the Snowtrooper officer. Can't wait for Phasma and the flametrooper.

I agree there. One thread for these guys should be fine. I'm really surprised that there are two Boba threads...that's really pointless!



I'm pretty much in the same boat. I like the design, and look, but I've already got the two pack of Stormtroopers on PO, and I don't think I want a dozen. I mean, it'll add up in the end. That said, they do look cool. I'd probably only go with the regular Snowtrooper though, if I do decide to bite. I'm not a huge fan of the giant orange pauldron.

I know it's to show rank, but in war I'm pretty sure soldiers don't even salute ranking officers on the field, because they'd be the first targeted if their rank was noticed by the enemy. The white pauldron on the Stormtrooper Leader looked nice enough, even though I passed, but this orange one really clashes with the style of these suits.

I think the black webbing and zebra crossing boots and rifle might give the game away as much as a bright orange pauldron.

I really like the design of these guys... all except for that impractical eye slit. Why couldn't they have just made it resemble the modified eyes of a FO Stormtrooper like this..........

Red pauldrons are so useful for snow camouflage.

White Stormtroopers and Scouts on Endor, orange pauldrons on Tatooine Sandtroopers. The Empire clearly didn't use camouflage colors for their ground troops. ESB Snowtroopers might have been white, just because all other troops were also white. These too.

I can bet the new TFA Stormtrooper b/w Nerf looking blasters were made this way because Disney wanted to be able to sell blaster toys and replicas, something they cannot do anymore with blasters that look like real guns due to the gun laws.

I assume part of the SW:TFA push, other than playing off the pre-release hype, is to make room for a flood of Captain America: Civil War figures early next year, but least Hot Toys isn't cramming in a release for these Snowtroopers before the end of 2015. I think I may want to wait on them anyway. Even though I have hope for the film due to a lack of George Lucas' involvement, I want to see the film before jumping all-in on these---as long as they don't sell out like the OT Stormtroopers.

I cannot see Hot Toys making an OT Snowtrooper any time soon. With so many other characters either unmade or unknown thanks to the new films that will be hitting, I doubt this would be a priority. I think the Sideshow figure is excellent too and just couldn't justify a £200 outlay on an upgrade.
