Anthony Hopkins is long over due as a high-quality 12" figure. Too bad it isn't Van Helsing.

Odin? When Destroyer is begging to be made in all of his destructive awesomeness?

Here's some translation for a few interesting points in the article:

Unlike most previous HT releases, they are trying to release the Thor figure around the same time when the movie launches
Odin (Anthony Hopkins) is planned to be the next figure in line
They may consider doing different versions of Thor, but will wait to see how well this first one sells
They say It's very unlikely that they will do a civilian version of Thor

I like everything about the article. :yess: Thanks for the translation....

:exactly:

If Odin is next and that will determine future releases my guess is that this will end up a two figure license only.:(

It's Marvel. It'll be a 5-6 figure line at least. Look at Iron Man and TDK. Mainstream comic lines do well for them. I'd guess Loki 3rd.

Comic adapted movies are hit an miss. IM and TDK being exceptions not the norm.

XMO Wolverine = 1 figure
300 = 1 figure
Blade = 2 figure
Watchmen = 2 figure
Hellboy = 2 figure
The Spirit = 3 figure
Batman Begins = 3 figure

Hope your right. But look at Wolverine, one figure and done. Of coarse there wasn't alot to build on from that movie. :monkey3 My guess is that if sales are not strong with Odin then that could be it. ie Watchmen.

Wolverine was a strong seller apparently HT didn't think anyone else would sell. They produced a TT with a Gambit - like sculpt which I would guess he was next.

IMO if Thor is a good seller and the movie well received, it could be a decent line 3 - 4 figures. If Thor figure or movie tanks we will see 1 - 2 figures.

Nooo! Just one version of Thor will do or they could just include another costume just like Barney...another unecessary expense if ever.:mad: Yes, will pass on Odin.:yess:

TFS this! :peace

Theres really only 2 versions in the movie arent there?
But a comic version would friggin rock the house.:yess:

Will order Odin when it goes up. I really am stoked for this movie and getting a couple of cool figures from it.

Honestly, I think HT did a great job with this figure.
If you take a look at the movie trailer again, you'll see that their figure comes very close in resembling the proportions of the actor.

Now therein lies the problem; the Thor in the movie is just not big enough. They casted an actor who is tall and cut when instead, they needed someone who was also "thick" in the chest, arms, and legs.

Well, for what it's worth, Thor not being big enough is the Director's fault.
Thor not having a more interesting expression is HT's fault.

I think another Thor figure would be kind of a waste even if it is a battle damaged ver. I would like to see other figures from the movie Odin/Loki or something from the "untouch" Marvel movies. I see getting another Thor with a different, more pissed off HS when the Avengers comes out.
Side note-I've also wondered if HT were to do Marvel comic book ver. of the each hero, which artist/design would they use as a model? Someone on this site will probably do a on poll about it.:panic:

Odin is an odd choice for third, but I welcome an Anthony Hopkins to my collection. Loki or the Destroyer would have been a better choice. I could see both of them being made now if we are getting Odin. Unless this line is having Watchmen syndrome.
