Hmm Im still on the fence about picking up this figure. I still cant shake off the feeling that its still off somehow. I dont know perhaps its cause he looks too slim in contrast to what you would expect? My comic book store had it and even after close inspection, the unshakeable desire to take the plunge wasnt as pronounced in comparison to when I picked up Iron Man, Batman or even the Black Widow. Maybe its the costume, perhaps it just doesnt spell Thor to me.

I watched the leaked Avengers trailer today and it showed Thor wearing a sleeveless tunic, which to me looks more like the Thor I expected. So what do you think, should I just wait to see what Hot Toys does with Avengers version? Perhaps they will make him look more bulkier? Im pretty sure that Im not the only one who was or has been on the fence about this figure since it first showed up.

Just depends on what you prefer.
I personally prefer this current Thor. To me, the sleeveless Thor looks like casual Thor. Whereas, the one we have now is more like his Battle Armor suit.
Not saying I dont dig his Avengers outfit, just slightly favor his Thor 1 movie look.

I don't like this figure very much. I'm hoping the next one will be better. I don't like the sleeveless look but I can always just buy the sleeves from the current figure and put them on the avengers version of Thor. That's the plan anyways...

More than likely the second one will be an improvement over this in every way. I can't think of an occasion when HT has revisited a figure and not vastly improved it...

That said, I liked this Thor and purchased it. It might be another year or more before the Avengers' Thor is announced/released. Till then this suffices :)

:exactly::exactly:

For now he fits the shelf perfectly :hi5:

I haven't been a fan of this Thor since I saw the first movie stills. The arm armor is just too plastic-y looking. Hot Toys did a fine job in recreating that, but it still looks a bit wonky to me. That is why I can't wait for another version to come out. So I am not unhappy with this figure, but more the movie design.

Yeah Id have to agree with you Grim about the chain mail, the other problem I have also has something to do with the hair sculpt. Sometimes when i look at pics it reminds me too much of some high end premium format figure from Marvel Select. (lack of higlights or since it looks too flat i guess)

Well as much as my OCD is tempting me to have a full Avengers set, I I can wait to see what they come up with in a year or so (or who knows maybe Ill just loose interest)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, Guess Im gonna try my best to hold off and see what develops.

If it were actually chain mail, I would have liked it. But I just didn't understand the weird plastic textured stuff that they used. But I am a dork, and play D&D and stuff like that. So I would appreciate something that seemed somewhat armor-like. I just didn't understand the Thor textured wetsuit look.

Got my Thor for weeks, but only happened to learn about the mod helmet yesterday. So this morning, got up to do a little adjustment. :clap

To save me some searching, what post # should I be looking for - for info on this helmet mod ?. Interested to see what it is and some before and after pics if possible.

Not that mine will have his helmet on much but I am known to alter poses/looks of all my figures every few months to keep them looking fresh.

:lecture Well, you may go to page 355- Post 3546, I guess. Great discription of mod helmet from our friend, Crimsonbob. :goodpost:

what you do is hit the helmet with a hammer until the wings come off and then duct tape them back on in their new location to give it a more screen accurate look ;)

That's exactly how I did mine and it came out fantastic. Reminds me of the seen where Odin took Thor by the ankle and held him upside down with only one hand and stuck his head in an Asgardian garbage disposal.

Thanks for info on the helmet mod. Looks great now I can see like for like before and after pictures. Definitely something I will do when mine is in hand.

Still seems as if the helmet if to big for his head . Is that a case of the pictures don't do it justice as many are reporting or is the helmet a little big ?.

after modding the helmet is an accurate size IMO...if anything its ever so slightly larger than it should be because in real life the hair would be compressed more than the figures hair under the helmet
