Hot toys do what hot toys do. A few years ago there was evidence of them making changes based on what was being complained about on this forum and others. They were listening or perhaps watching their audience, now that's gone. It's just about the cash. If their products are selling they won't change anything, they are, so they won't. They allocate a certain amount of time to lock down a sculpt, get it approved and then move to next phase. They abandon a project when they get license approval, there have only been a very small number of occasions where they have improved projects from proto to production in recent years. Now they tend to hide bad product until the last moment and then rush it out to avoid bad press (Indy, DX Luke).
They knew damn well this head was off. They just didn't want to spend more time and money on it to fix it. And certainly they knew of the inevitable 2.0 version, so why fix the first one? Make it perfect and no one will want another...
Didnt they change the avengers Thor head? That was a recent release. I think they still adjust things , but they cant please everyone all the time.
The final version of Thors head was awful IMO. But that's not the point I guess, they change lots of things, but on their own accord, not through any negative feedback from the fans. They changed the RDJ sculpt on this also, and it's ****. Of course they can't please everyone all the time, but when obvious issues arise, they should correct them. Indy for example, terrible proto, awful production release. And their PERS treatment of late has been horrible. DX 12 Batman, great if you mod the hell out of it, for these prices we should be getting perfect figures.
My WL has not yet converted. I am WL for all 3 HT versions (EX, Reg, BD Movie Promo).
Thanks. Keep in mind this was done on a spare chest piece ordered on Ebay the night the parters started selling MKVII parts.
I have decided, on reflection, to fill in the panel lines and the indents on the top corners. They might stick to the resin female master mould.
I'll fill them tonight and sand them tomorrow then make the mould.
Personally I love the way the Thor came out much better then the initial sculpt. It does not photograph great but i think the sculpt looks great in hand. I think a lot of the changes HT did/does are always on their own accord and people just assume it was due to fan complaints. I agree it looks like they messed with the RDJ but im waiting to see mine in hand for final judgement.
I agree I would love perfection and prices are rising but in reality perfection will never happen. Just something we need to accept. I think people have gotten spoiled by how good figures can get. Look at releases 3 years ago to figures today. Things are always getting better but im not sure they will be 100 percent. Everyone sees a likeness slightly different etc.
As far as QC goes i have been very lucky i have only really had SSC stuff with terrible QC. I think anything mass produced is going to see issues that we come across.
It is your collection and if you are starting to loose interest then you should go with what you are typing. If you think you could be spending your money better for other things, keep the pieces you want and liquidate the rest.
You seem level headed enough to not overpay for figures and getting wrapped up with the hyping that goes on so much with these toys. Just don't take these dollies too seriously and buy what you like. It's just stuff.
if you are expecting perfection just because you spent a little more, you guys are in the wrong hobby.
....i dont even know why some of you would still be collecting at this point since every HT figure ever released as had some form of inaccuracies to the source material. its like watching people in horrible relationships stay in them because they dont know where else to go and thrive off of the drama of conflict
Where's the like button here?
I am kinda losing interest in my Avengers Hot Toys. I guess because I don't have the whole set yet, they are taking so long to be released, they cost a lot of money, and I only really got into it for the Black Widow figure. I am seriously contemplating if I want to sell off my figures. Not really looking for a profit or anything. Just trying to at least make back what I paid for them.
Right now I own Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, and Thor. I also have the Bat Pod. I have preordered Iron Man VII, Hulk, and Catwoman. The only one I payed more than the Sideshow Toys list price is Hawkeye since I bought that one off of Ebay.
If I decide to sell them I will not even open the Iron Man VII, Hulk, and Catwoman box when I receive them.
If I was to keep any I would probably keep Black Widow and Catwoman (if she looks as good as the prototype).
I guess that main reason for this post is to get advice and see what you guys think I should do?
Collecting is about collect what you value the most, so just go with whatever you think its please you. I dropped the Avenger and start moving to collect Terminator line 1 week ago. Just get T 1000, the 1st one in the line

Totally agree. Each new toy sculpt has been better than the last version, but people will always find something to complain about.
mark 4 head looks better
Terminator is a f'n fantastic line.
I made a custom Honda CB750 for my PS T1.
I'm not sure I can value someone's opinion if they don't have a handle on the proper use of emoticons.
