Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

Somebody posted this custom Hulk on One Sixth Republic's Facebook page. The base figure was the "HULK" Roto-cast Movie Hulk.

Looks pretty good I think!

Wow! That's a very nice custom Hulk figure.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

Earlier in the thread there was some debating on the price of this figure. While I'm not really wanting to reopen that debate I would like to add something additional that people weren't taking into consideration on pricing.

Aside from not being able to use existing molds and having to make all new ones for every part of this toy, which is very expensive and will not be able to be used on other figures…which means that the cost of the mold cannot be spread out over many figures. Aside from this figure being so big and simply taking more raw materials. There is the shipping costs of this figure from China to the U.S.. This shipping is usually done by container on the water.

Now, being unsure of the size of each shipment and whether SSC is able to fill an entire container with their own product(Cost advantage) we’ll just deal in generalities and say that because these are not extremely heavy items they go by what is called ‘dimensional weight’ in the shipping business. This means that the price is determined by the ‘volume’ of the shipment rather than the weight. The Hulks are going to take up a LOT more space for the same number of figures. Thus the shipping charges go up exponentially. A large part of Hulk’s higher costs, aside from new molds, aside from molds used only for Hulk and not other figure bodies, is the freight it takes to get here. If Hulk is roughly 1/3 larger(which is generously low), then instead of 100 figures shipping in an LCL(less than container load) shipment for $1000 you have have 63. That mean’s that Hulk’s cost of shipping is around 50% more than your average figure.

It is another core component in costing that is often forgotten.

Well, yeah, I think that's what they implied happened.

Yes. But what I'm saying is that shield and Fury have been monitoring hulk for some time and realize he is not a threat but a possible member of the avengers team. Therefore throwing Ross off the trail so shield can call him in when needed. Not the other way around where they want to take hulk out for Ross. See the difference?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

@ Brainreese - What you're saying makes sense. Large size, more weight, and new tooling = higher costs. Makes me wonder how HT will capitalize on this figure? Maybe something like with their previous Iron Men? Say, exclusive head or hand sculpts or maybe perhaps, a variant color? Say either Grey or Red as seen in the comics?

Granted the color change won't be Avengers related (Not yet, at least), but it may be a way for HT to make most use of their newest mold.

Angry Hulk
Grimmacing Hulk
Roaring Hulk
Red Hulk
Gray Hulk
Hulk 3 Hulk
Avengers II Hulk

And if they ever want to make a 1/4 scale Barry Bonds...

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

Why do they tease then wait so long.

Now I gotta say, Sideshow is the master of the endless tease... Grievous, a year ago, some other items are over four years old in their teasing... but HT is pretty good too... like with the Cannibal chair last year.

Will HT miss the bus yet again? Will Avengers wear thin in the coming months, diluted by Prometheus and Batman 3?

I see many Hawkeye and Nick Fury cancellations in the future.

It's SHIELD, why even the need to throw Ross off Hulk's scent, it makes no sense, they can just tell him to STFU, we got this.

Nah, movie made over a billion and the characters are cooler than blue cats.

Won't be neglected.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

I didn't buy that lame short movie explanation on Abomination/General Ross.

I really believed at the end of TIH that Stark meant they were forming a team to go after Hulk.

I believe Stark believed that, too. Coulson lied to him, and sent him to Gen Ross to offer a partnership knowing that Stark's ego and attitude would grate on Ross quickly and destroy any chance of a long term alliance.

:goodpost: though i'd say Hot Toys are the king of teasing.

Cannibal king throne & fig
Angelica
X-Men First Class (just passed a year since announcement and still nothing )
Tron Lightcycle (over a year on pre-order)
Smooth criminal (two years i think)
The other platoon guys
MGS (18 months with no news before a mere two figures dropped)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

I was led to believe that because he was smiling at the end of TIH, that it was going to be less traumatic as well.

I wish Banner had asked about Betty in Avengers though, but they had already squeezed in Jane. :lol

Loki was the bad guy. Thor is his enemy. Jane is connected to Thor. Thus Jane is a target.

Loki didn't give a ____ about Betty, Pepper, or anyone else (or at least SHIELD had no reason to think he would).

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: HULK

I know Loki is the villain and the Thor/Jane connection.

But Banner loves Betty. would've been nice to revisit his thoughts on her.

And that's why these are the first two figures we'll get. Orders will be fulfilled well before the hype has died down.

I don't think what we have seen of Hulk and Mark 7 are official teasers. They are early builds of a prototype and there will be another actual teaser of the finished proto later on. I think the fact that they showed us this means these 2 were not as far along as the others but they just wanted to declare that they were working on it, so we don't panic about them omitting the 2 most wanted characters

Compared to Shield, Ross is tiny I know but even a tiny splinter can be enough of an annoyance to get in the way. Especially when that annoyance is a general that commands tanks, gunships, and sonic weapons. Think of Hulk as Ross's white whale. Do you really think he'd give up his pursuit of revenge and listen to shield or fury for that matter? The guy is nuts and would do anything to get his hands on the Hulk.

It would make my day if they made him Red Hulk in a future Hulk movie.
