I do think a big difference between last year's Mark VI and this new one is that the Mark VI was a complete rehash apart from stand and box. Many collectors already owned it essentially (I did/do). Further, it was actually an inferior rehash because it didn't have the battle damaged parts. You really buy that guy for the relative scarcity, stand (which Evilface could easily reproduce), and box, which admittedly is very cool but I don't display boxes personally. This new one has newly sculpted parts and a fancy base that, presumably, will only be available here. That makes this new guy more desirable to more collectors.

Just to be clear there are no newly sculpted BD parts, just more weathering and decals.

The dio stand and helmeted HS might be new (but it appears to be a cut out of MMS191: Tony Stark's HS, same HS that maybe used with Mk. 42). So the only thing that's actually novel is just the Dio.

I had no intention of getting this figure at all. I love coming to this thread for the drama.

I am glad I was able to get in my order for this piece, but now what bothers me is that I am now waiting on Standard Mark7, and BD Mark7.....
:impatient:...I have been jonezin for months for my HT Iron Man fix, and I am sure after I see IM3 it will only make it worse...:gah:

Just to set the record straight, the Mark VI had an email almost identical to the Mark VII. Its dated 5/30/12

This will also mean that price is not an issue for Iron Man figures. Even with a price increase, there will always be willing buyers to snap them up. There is definitely a surge in the number of new collectors (or scalpels) who are willing to spend and will spend.

Erm yeah it did

looking back in the emails, i admit defeat. good call Aguado.

one HUGE difference though, the mark VI email was dated Wednesday at 12:28pm eastern. not a friday late afternoon.

maybe that's why the mark VI lasted several hours, some say 12 hours. i know i ordered from a heads up, not the email link.

Yep.

I've said this many times, I think that some members of this forum think we are a large portion of HT business. And I bet its less than 5%. Maybe less than 1%. And some post here as if HT and SS owe them something. :slap These aren't mass produced. They're going to sell out in an hour, a day, a month or a year. They are going to sell out.

And even on some FB site, which I'm sure are also some members here also, people scream for something other than Iron Man, yet Iron Man sells and sells and sells. Why wouldn't HT make as many Iron Man figures as possible if they are going to sell. We forget they are a business and they are doing this to make money. They aren't our friends. If they made 3000 total BD Mark VII figures ( or whatever the amount was ) I doubt HT or SS cared which of their 3000 fans got them.

Rant over.:wave

just to be clear. WE are the customers, so YES sideshow does owe us something. those include fair business practices, good customer service, a good product at a reasonable price, dependability, reliability...all those things that make a good business and bury a bad business.

btw, there IS a difference between wednesday mid-day and friday late afternoon. :gah:

I'm still upset- yes MK VI had a SPECIFIC time you could start ordering and it was told to you in advance. This one- NOTHING. Lousy in my opinion.
I just have to get over missing this and realize there will be many many more cool IM figures to come and it is just a toy....

Exactly-BUT if HT knows they can sell mountains of IM and are in it for the money(obviously)...why didn't they make 5000 or 7000 or more BD Mk VIIs...they would sell out.

There is in 2013? Everyone now has a smart phone with the ability to get notifications and browse the internet. If you are in the U.S and missed out on the deal, then it's because you did not prepare well for the email notification...so I really don't understand what the "time of day" has anything to do with you not able to score one.....

A random email sent during a random time is much better than say..sideshow announcing the release of this figure at a precise time. I remember when amazon.com did that with the xbox 360 selling for 99..crashed amazon.com AND you had the frustration of having an item sitting in cart but you can't check out due to latency.

You are right that they owe us what we choose to buy. And whether or not you agree or care, there are tons of buyers out there more than willing to take your place as a customer of HT and SS. Its your choice to give them or business or not. But I think you may be mistaken if you think they'll miss you. And I only say this because this is not a business that is providing a need or a service. Its a frivolous and unnecessary hobby. And they are not mass produced.

not everyone in the world uses smartphones. so you're saying i should have bought one for this pre-order or i could only order if i had one?

and i imagine you don't work in the US? if you did, you'd know on wednesday at 12:30pm eastern, people on the east coast are eating lunch and browsing the internet at work. at 5:04pm people on the east coast are in their vehicles going home. so YES, time does make a difference if you're debating a FAIR and IMPARTIAL time to put this up for order so EVERYONE could have a chance.
