Not only having this figure is awesome due to that base and such an amazing battle damage work, but also because of the "idea" of having something as limited in your collection.

Joshh, you cannot convince me that you don't have this coming to you.

Also, aren't you suppose to be on a plane today?

I am glad you secured an order but unfortunately only a small percentage of international customers are able to do that. The rest are pretty much out of luck.

It is very unfair that.

But it does make you wonder if there will be a third set of these made for other countries outside the US and China.

I'm not sure I understand the chik-fil-a argument, but I agree with some of Darkmatter's points.

Clearly there are some people that are willing to pay $300 for Iron Man variants right now, but I think it's also clear that a lot of the buyers of this piece are scalpers looking for someone they can sucker into paying even more for it.

These things have gone up by $100 in the last two years or so. You can only push prices up so far before the bubble bursts in a niche collectors market that is so strongly supported by scalper speculation like this one. Once prices hit that level, demand will drop down and scalpers will lose interest, and at that point Sideshow and Hot Toys could be in trouble. You can actually see a miniature version of this in our own B/S/T section. Lots of people trying to undercut each other's prices on the same figure due to a high supply of the same item that people are trying to dump. Many figures are on there and priced well below retail, but they don't sell. It's kind of like watching the greater fool theory of economics in action.

:hi5: finally someone who gets where i'm coming from. LOL

I remember the "white page of death" days. It was a pain in the *** to order, but you knew when the order was up. You sat there and watched the clock tick down till you could order.

I hate this waiting on an email crap. Especially when it comes hours after the sale starts.

The adreneline rush years ago was awesome. :lol

I won't deny that I would love to be able to get this figure but I am not getting this or any other for that matter. The fact that I don't collect anymore doesnt mean I can't glorify figures and express how I feel about some of them!!
Yes, flight should be taking off around 3 pm :)
2hr 45 min flight.

first...misplaced anger? this is why i detest posting on public forums. you don't know me so what gives you a right to analyze and access the way i post? piss off.

You give them the right once you post...its a forum..it's what goes on here and any other forum. Why do so many people not understand this basic concept?

Nicely put. The B/S/T section has actually become another eBay.

I do think a big difference between last year's Mark VI and this new one is that the Mark VI was a complete rehash apart from stand and box. Many collectors already owned it essentially (I did/do). Further, it was actually an inferior rehash because it didn't have the battle damaged parts. You really buy that guy for the relative scarcity, stand (which Evilface could easily reproduce), and box, which admittedly is very cool but I don't display boxes personally. This new one has newly sculpted parts and a fancy base that, presumably, will only be available here. That makes this new guy more desirable to more collectors.

Agreed...the BD paint apps on the Mark VI promo were weak at best..really cheesy looking..this one is a completely awesome looking BD take on the Mark VII and looks extremely unique in its own.

While I whole-heartedly agree with you, if handled any differently, people wouldn't have anything to complain about.

I actually received the email, had him in my cart and didn't pull the trigger. I figured he'd be available for a couple days at least. So shame on me but I just don't see how SS could have handled this any better, aside from those signed up for the alert actually receiving it.

I was very surprised it sold out so soon too.

You know, people have to realize that some are disappointed and will complain. I'm dissappointed as well. What WE don't need is people who got it telling us that well......tough **** for you, especially when ones who get it have to come on the board and say.......Oh I got two, or three or five. Or, well, I didn't really want it, I'm going to flip or trade it. Just keep that too yourself. No need to brag about it and fuel the fire.

Some of us can't sit by the computer all day waiting for a pre-sale. In the old days there was a set time for it, or it would happen when the newsletter launched. Now, it can be anytime. Some of us have more to do in our lives.

So please......save us the too bad for you speeches.

Thank you. :lol

I agree and I would be disappointed too if I missed it and if you noticed I haven't been bragging about getting one or stating that I bought multiples and plan to sell them. I bought one and plan to keep it for my collection. I made one comment after the latest round of proto pics were posted that I was happy to have one on order and can't wait for it to ship.

I made my other comment mainly because I wanted to express my opinion about how I thought the whole process was handled by Sideshow and where I thought the blame should be placed.

I thought putting this up at 6pm eastern time on Friday was a pretty crappy move by Sideshow. When have they ever posted something on a Friday so late in the day?

Most Hot Toys items at least recently have gone up on Fridays between 2:00 and 3:00 PM Pacific so this wasn't out of the norm.

Exactly-BUT if HT knows they can sell mountains of IM and are in it for the money(obviously)...why didn't they make 5000 or 7000 or more BD Mk VIIs...they would sell out.

5000 Mark VII BD's at $200 or 3000 at $300...in the end they got close to the same amount..with having to do less. With the lower number to sell it increases and buzz and urgency in collectors to get them...if this thing was going to go up with a large number available..people would sit on it and wait to PO..some maybe not at all.

that's because people keep ordering from them without telling them they don't like something. i guess people are willing to put away their self-respect and dignity for a plastic figure. not me. i feel ALL businesses have a moral obligation to display fair business practices.

what do you think would happen to sideshow if it somehow got out that their business is christian run and they don't believe in same sex marriage? would sideshow be able to weather the storm like chick-fil-a? doubtful.

I dont think it would slow them down one bit...they are a small company on the grand scheme of things. Most of society has never even heard of them and wouldnt think twice..noone would report it in the first place.

Sorry dude, gotta disagree. Post useless drivel and get back useless drivel.

The way SS put up the order was completely fair. Everyone got a email notification. They can't set a specific time that will work for everyone. If you miss out you miss out. Is that really a hard concept that people can't take in?

And sucks for you people who aren't in an area of the exclusive release. Hot Toys gave what everyone wanted: an extremely limited release that you all so clamored for. The whining and moaning that releases weren't limited enough, they come out with this and the whining explodes.

From what I read, a lot of people signed up for the e-mail notification and never got them.

:rotfl at this thread. I missed getting the figure but not by lack of trying. I got the email but the 5 times I tried placing my order via iPhone not a one took therefore, I get the frustration of missing out. I did get one the waitlist at 9:35 the next morning so I may have a chance.

That said, if I score one I'd rather 3000 be made versus 7000. The thread turned into a punch of whiners who missed out complaining but if the shoe was one the other foot they'd prefer a truly limited release. We all know truly limited release means the value for this item will likely increase . i suspect has something to do with most of the complaining.

Kudos to all that got one and everyone else remember this is a toy move on gesh.
