Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - MARK XVII Heartbreaker Armor

I'm a new collector of Hot Toys. It really seems like the trend is for Hot Toys to prey upon us and keep raising these pre order prices. I have the saved Hidden search for Hot toys and seen prices for Iron men Armor used to be around 189.00 so this new trend in them selling for over 200 is crazy...way over 200.00 with less and less accessories....

I personally don't know if I picked the right hobby and may just focus on my Masterpiece Transformers line....

It might seem that way, but I doubt the decision makers all sit around a table and decide on the best price to seriously **** us over while being low enough that most of us will still buy it. Everything that goes into making these figures is getting more expensive, which is why the prices keep going up. It costs more to make the Mark VII now than it did to make the Mark VI over a year ago. And prices will keep going up until it becomes unprofitable for Hot Toys to make and sell these figures. Which might not be as far away as people suspect.

Just went up on BBTS For those waiting. Get in quick! Figures have been going to "preorder-sold out" within a few hours lately.

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - MARK XVII Heartbreaker Armor

This too will be an easy pass for me. Maybe if had more screen time, I would've grown to like the armor, but for the most part, just don't care for the design.

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - MARK XVII Heartbreaker Armor

Bummer I'd get this for $200. Hard to justify $250 for this. Looks awesome though.

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - MARK XVII Heartbreaker Armor

I love it but $250 for it? Holy ****. I understand the whole "Can't reuse parts, added cost, blah blah blah" but that's still a ****ing amazing cost for a 1:6 scale figure. I'm not worried it's going anywhere really so I can pass for now and see if I hit a leprechaun down the road or something and find some cash.

How is $250 a shock? That's what the Mark VII cost, and production prices have presumably gone up from one year to the next, right?

Probably because there is no headsculpt and waaaay less accessories.

im not so sure that isnt the case. this is what goes on in every boardroom in every corporation. maximizing profits is the whole reason they are there. when you have a hot item, you capitalize on it. we have proven that we are willing participants, so now HT and SS and all the rest will push the $$ envelope to find the breaking point and rest happily on it. if they werent doing that, they would be clueless buffoons.

they will never EVER be unprofitable as long as adult collectors with disposable income exist. people are paying $700 for a plastic batmobile. the high end collectible market is almost impossible to kill.

there will never be a day when HT says, we are closing because we cant make money anymore.

:exactly: It's all about research and figuring out which price will get the most profit without driving too many consumers away.

I went ahead and PO'd through BBTS since there is no deposit but I'm going to have to think long and hard on this one.

When it was originally teased a couple months back I was all over it. But the price seems little high considering what isn't included. I was expecting more of a $219.99 price tag, which I would be a little more comfortable with.

All in all I'll probably keep the order. The difference in the cost and what I think it should cost really comes down to a couple bucks a month over the duration of watiing a year before this actually comes out. :lol

:goodpost:

There is however a risk that they will get the sums wrong, if that happens it will be hard to justify reducing the prices again to lure punters back.

.. oh wait.. plastic v diecast.. I see what they did there... :)

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - MARK XVII Heartbreaker Armor

Snagged a pre-order at BBTS and Sideshow. With no NRD Sideshow seems like the easy choice, but we'll see how the funds are looking next year and if I need the month pushback of BBTS lol.

Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 3 - MARK XVII Heartbreaker Armor

This was an easy one for me, love the suit! :yess: Pre-ordered at SSC.

Now to sell more steelbooks...:(
