Amazing Figure!!!

But Im beyond tired of people complaining about prices. Go hire someone to make one for you, any figure for that matter, and see what you will pay. Almost all good custom figures cost far more than HTs. If someone attempted this Igor and it came out anywhere near as good (which it wouldn't even come close), you would be paying way more than $500.

I guess people will never understand the hobby nor understand what it takes to make a figure. I tried to make a custom figure once. A really basic figure, and it was going to cost me $300-400. If HTs produced that same figure, it would probably be under $200.

Their prices are fair for EVERYTHING that goes into making these. Problem is people are spoiled and they just don't understand.

good luck to those...:wave

this thing is mass produced. Also made in china with all plastic. Cost to make this is around $50 tops! think about it. custom figures are different thats why they are more high in price.

I wouldn't say they are fair, but conveniently priced for what they are. Luxury action figures. They do need to make money too.

But yeah, people complaint about everything.

Man, you are something else. Care to back your statement with any facts? Any facts at all?

Collect something else if price is an issue!

So then the cost to make the battle damaged mark vii is $20, everyone is ready and willing to shell out well over the retail $300 for that. $500 is expensive, but this is a complex piece and a high price was expected at least by me.

everyone knows a mass produced item is cheap to make in China. The more you make they cheaper it is. Whats there to back up? How much do you think a pair of Nike Jordan cost to make?

Iron monger cheaper? I don't remember what I paid for him, $469/489? In any case, yeah, he's probably priced a little higher, but you can't tell me that wasn't expected. This is HT.

Sucks a little, I'm with ya partner.

Ha! hilarious!
Yet somehow, Hot Toys managed to put out the Iron Monger for $400 (which is larger and involves about the same amount of detail and articulation as the Igor) and their company didn't crumble. OF COURSE they are jacking the price up because they know some people will pay it. I'm just not one of them.

YES!!! They jacked up prices because they know people will buy!!! You think HT don't make load of profit? Look at their stores. I've been in the wholesale business for more then 10 years now.

$50 cost. Lol! Maybe in raw materials, but not if you factor in paging for the factory, the workers, and the BIG costs, the concept, design, prototypes and making the mold. Packaging fees, advertisement, hot toys employees have to factored into the price of everything they sell. $50 cost is laughable. If it costs the consumer $510, you can assume it costs Hot Toys ~$110-150, costs sideshow $200-250, and then costs other retailers $350-400.

I think the point he making is you have no clue as to exactly how much it cost to make this figure. Yes once they have the original mold then yes they can pump them out pretty quick for cheap but your forgetting all the R&D time it takes to make one of these, its a process that usually takes months to do. Yes there is no doubt they are making a profit on this and yes its marked up because everyone is on an IM craze right now but for the size and detail of it that's what one would/should expect to pay around.

no I ment I though igor would be around $450ish but not shocked hes 510. And is that what iron monger cost from SS? $450ish too?

Thats why I say most people do not understand. They don't realize what it takes to run a business of this nature. Actual production of the figure in China is just one of many many many aspects that are part of this kind of business. These people just haven't got a clue.

You have a good point there. Most people really have no clue.

Yes your right... I don't work for Hot Toys so i don't know exactly how much. But I do know $500 is no where close on what this item should cost. This item should retail around $250 - $300 max!

I have a total of 7 hot toys figures on pre-order. Because of multiple flex-pays, adding another one just means I would have to cancel something else. Ultimately, if HT kept their prices a bit more reasonable, I wouldn't need to cancel one item in order to buy another- and they would get MORE of my money that way, not less.
