this thing is mass produced. Also made in china with all plastic. Cost to make this is around $50 tops! think about it. custom figures are different thats why they are more high in price.

Thats why I say most people do not understand. They don't realize what it takes to run a business of this nature. Actual production of the figure in China is just one of many many many aspects that are part of this kind of business. These people just haven't got a clue.

I know how business work.. I'm in the wholesale business.... import export stuff from China and around the world everyday. We have a factory in China and Thailand.

YES!!! They jacked up prices because they know people will buy!!! You think HT don't make load of profit? Look at their stores. I've been in the wholesale business for more then 10 years now.

I hate cheap people. Its a fair price for a figure that will sell for 1k+ in 2-3 years.

You guys also need to bear in mind the HUGE fee's Hot Toys will have had to pay for the Iron Man 3 licence. You can bet each time they buy a licence, Marvel or whoever will up the price to Hot Toys (eg. Iron Man 4 licence will cost Hot Toys more than IM3) and you can bet they know how much they and SS sell these figures for. Make no mistake, the licence is where it will all start and it will be big money..!

I have a total of 7 hot toys figures on pre-order. Because of multiple flex-pays, adding another one just means I would have to cancel something else. Ultimately, if HT kept their prices a bit more reasonable, I wouldn't need to cancel one item in order to buy another- and they would get MORE of my money that way, not less.

They can live w/o you.

Sad, but true.

Why should HT let the aftermarket scoop up all that profit? I can't remember the last IM armor figure that didn't sell out. A yr later figs going for 2 or 3 times the retail. Just look at BD mk 7. Not even out yet and going for a ransom. HT would be a fool if they charged for a modest profit when ppl are willing to pay much more. It's pure supply and demand. HT makes the best stuff, so they can charge a premium.

Yes your right... I don't work for Hot Toys so i don't know exactly how much. But I do know $500 is no where close on what this item should cost. This item should retail around $250 - $300 max!

I guess you don't own a business so you really don't understand how this works do you? For them its not about what people "should" pay its about what they "will" pay. HT knows people will pay $510 for this. It a business man, there here to make MONEY not make you a figure for as cheap as possible :slap

Oh I'm fully aware of that- but the main point was in my last line: "Ultimately, they would get MORE of my money that way, not less."
That's what they're aiming for, right? If they had priced Igor at $450, they would get my money. Now, because of their greed, they get none.

This reminds me of football fans. They get ripped off everytime moan and beotch but keep paying as the season tickets go higher and higher.
