Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

I could not disagree with this more. Nothing about Kylo is iconic. Not yet.

Darth Vader is iconic.
Han Solo is iconic.
Princess Leia is iconic.
Indiana Jones is iconic.
Captain America is iconic.
Batman is iconic.
Harry Potter is iconic.
The Blues Brothers are iconic.
Gandalf is iconic.

Kylo Ren has been in one movie. He killed an iconic, beloved character, but otherwise got b*tched in a lightsaber fight by a woman who never held a lightsaber before, lost the map to Luke Skywalker due to poor judgement, ordered the death of a bunch of innocent civilians, and lost a high importance prisoner that his leader counted on. He's done absolutely nothing iconic to this point. He's nothing more than a villain. He may become iconic at some point, but he's about as far away from icon as one can be.

I guess iconic is not best word but it was a very distinct look and he was pretty much the face of the movie....to a lot of kids he will be their Darth Vader of their generation so you could argue he is iconic. As far as poor judgement, it runs in the family. Vader let the Falcon escape with Death Star blue prints and let them take it back to their base. It then resulted in him being lone survivor spinning of in space after some farm boy who never flew an X-wing blew up the Empires biggest weapon. Also....Vader stood by as a whole planet was destroyed of innocent people. The worst part is he couldn't use the force to figure out he tortured his own daughter. The daughter of the woman he forced choked (wife beater) and was going to leave him cause he took his light saber and slaughtered a bunch of children...I'm my opinion Kylo Ren is not a villain....he is just ahead of the curve...lol

Ohbytheway..I like a Vader but when you were describing all of Kylo's character faults it was so similar to Vader it was funny.

Rey and Han Solo are the faces of the movie. Kylo was the main villain, but he was not the face. It's like in a James Bond movie, Alec Trevelyan was a huge part of Goldeneye, but James and Natalya are still the faces of the movie.

He is based off an iconic character, yes, and he idolizes an iconic character, but he is not iconic. An icon is someone transcendent or definitive. People who don't watch Star Wars know who Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader are, but I would bet good money that people who don't care about Star Wars at all wouldn't know who Kylo Ren or even Yoda are.

As far as poor judgement, it runs in the family. Vader let the Falcon escape with Death Star blue prints and let them take it back to their base.

Vader's plan was actually brilliant. And it almost worked. By letting the Falcon go, Han and Leia led the Empire straight to the Rebel's doorstep. Vader had never seen the Death Star plans, neither had Tarkin. Krennic was the one overseeing the project and even he didn't know what Galen Erso did to sabotage the station. All the Imperials knew was that they had a seemingly impenetrable fortress that could destroy a planet in a matter of seconds. You can't fault Vader or Tarkin for not knowing about a small flaw with a thousand to one odds of being successfully taken advantage of. Tarkin was arrogant for not evacuating, but Vader was part of the counter attack.

It then resulted in him being lone survivor spinning of in space after some farm boy who never flew an X-wing blew up the Empires biggest weapon.

True, but, Luke was already a good pilot, even if he never flew a warship. Rey had never even been in a combat situation once in her life. Both tapped into the Force to do what they did, but at least Luke had flown things before.

Also....Vader stood by as a whole planet was destroyed of innocent people.

Tarkin issued that order, not Vader. Besides, at that point, there was not an ounce of humanity in Vader.

The worst part is he couldn't use the force to figure out he tortured his own daughter. The daughter of the woman he forced choked (wife beater) and was going to leave him cause he took his light saber and slaughtered a bunch of children...

Vader tortured his own daughter because he didn't know he had a daughter. He didn't even know he had a son until Palpatine told him. All he knew was that his wife died, he probably assumed the child died with her. It's not a ridiculous thing to think. He was so devastated that he lost Padme, he probably tried not to think about if his child lived or died with her. He probably thought it was better to just move on.

As far as her going to leave him, if they went with the original ROTS ending, then yes, she was going to kill him. But in the version we got, she went to plead with him to stop what he was doing and let Obi-Wan help him. He only turned on her when his hatred made him think she brought Obi-Wan to kill him.

I'm not trying to argue or discredit your opinion....just trying to have a conversation. I just don't think you can say Kylo Ren is anything close to iconic yet. There are worlds between him and Vader at this point. Maybe at some point he'll have some moment that the whole world talks about and knows what happened, but he's not even one of the top Star Wars characters yet. Not even close.

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

No I'm no arguing..it's fun..I do think people short Rey...she had to survive on a hostile planet alone since childhood..her staff skills were shown in movie when she went after Fin....plus I won't be surprised if she is the one so she was remembering all these skills from another life or some stuff..,plus if you took any professional fighter and shot them...I think you would stand a good chance of beating them in a fight. I don't think her beating Kylo was that far out there...how Kylo didn't do a back flip when shot by Bow-caster is another matter..

Personally, I think to think that Rey is the sole survivor of Luke's Jedi Academy, and that's how she had some basic knowledge of the Force and was able to tap into it. It would also explain why the lightsaber "called" to her, whatever the hell that means. But, if she trained with Luke, she would have been taught how to use the Force and how to wield a lightsaber.

Maybe Luke or Han or someone dropped her off on Jakku to hide her while Luke got his head sorted out after losing everything, and that day just never came.

Kylo not going flying after getting hit by the bowcaster is a good point that I never thought of before lol.

Yeah..I hope they don't go the chosen one route...It's possible she has ability to experience things through the force via objects or artifacts she touches. Maybe she can pickup knowledge too. But I agree...she was probably in Luke's academy.

I think Kylo may have dropped her off. I think he saved her from being killed by one of his men. He would of still been conflicted so instead of killing her he sold her into slavery. He still had good in him. I have a feeling they are going to have him come back to the light at end. Hard to sell it when he kills Han Solo but I think he will be redeemed.

My big question is if he is a Vader lover. How has Anakin not come back as force ghost and told him...hey man your totally on the wrong path. It's crazy Anakin isn't haunting him like 24x7

Square face Rey will have her hand chopped off by Kylo, and for whichever genuis reason that Mickey Mouse could ever think of , her full "hidden force power" will be unlocked. Finn will be tricked and frozen by captain Phasma and sold to some idiots in the outerrim :lol. Easy script for epIX next.

I swear if that happens I will not watch the third movie. The last thing we need is a retelling of the ot.

I'll be pissed as anything if they go with her being a "chosen one"...we already got that with Anakin. In fact, I'll be really annoyed if she's a Skywalker or a Kenobi too. They don't need to keep tying everything back to the OT. The way it was done in Rogue One was nice...subtle hints but it wasn't forced down your throat. I hope she's an original character and they just let her be her own person without the surname to live up to.

I also agree that I think Kylo is going to come back to the light. They kind of hinted at it in TFA when he killed his dad. I just hope the tradeoff isn't Luke falling to the dark side.

To a collector personality, everything's iconic. Everything has importance and resonance. Otherwise, why collect.

As far as "the face" of TFA... that's subjective. It could be BB-8. Rey. Kylo.

It's Solo's final act but I don't see this as a Solo movie. Rey journey finds him. He's the Ben Kenobi here, and I don't think anyone would argue that Ben was "the face" of the original Star Wars.

Generally 'the face' is: Lead hero (Luke), or lead villain (Vader), or unusual sidekick (like R2 and 3PO)

I don't get why everyone is thinking the easiest possible plot possibilities for episode 8 and 9. What if...Rose is secretly Snoke? What if Kylo doesn't go back to the light but kills Snoke and becomes worse, the way Vader often talked of overthrowing the Emperor but never actually doing it. There's so many things that can happen. I do like this idea of Anakin haunting Kylo Ren. That's kind of neat. It would be very interesting to see how Vader views himself after having died and all.

Re: Hot Toys Episode 3 Anakin

What if a PORG pilot blows up the 4th Death Star!!

:lol.. you're expecting something dark and twisted from..Disney :lol

Well I really dont care what will happend with Kylo fate and the rest of his gang..didnt understand why I was dragged into this in..Anakin topic.

Its about time HTS make some clones so I could form this wonderful scene.. Anakin/Vader and his 501st legion :yess:

Truthfully, I have no idea what they have planned for the ST; nor does anyone else.

I just hope Luke doesn't go dark, and it'd be cool to see Anakin's FG haunt Kylo or visit Luke. Oh, and hopefully the film answers the burning question that's on everyone's mind: how did Maz end up with Anakin's/Luke's saber? :lol
