People keep mentioning this waist issue, but I've never noticed any color difference with mine. Are there some contributing factors? Maybe I'm just storing it in optimal conditions :dunno

I never keep it in any weird place either. It starts going a lighter washed out red. a-dev and many others are having these problems as well. It took sometime to go this way though.

You can see it somewhat on this:

Hmmm, thanks Vodoun, I do see it a bit in that pic. I guess I'll give mine another look when I get home.

Under regular night room lighting you would never spot it. Even if you looked hard. Not until you see it in the daylight it sticks out, even more so on a sunny day it sticks out like a sore thumb. Only then you can really see how off it has went then you really see the difference between the chest and torso.

Way back in March 2009 you can see everything matches:

To this day the colour it ends up going is like a pinkish/rose like red. Like the way the light is on the left of the chest here:

Anywhere this red rubber is it's affected. You can see it on the neck as well.

my battle damaged faceplate has like a small 'chip' by the chin area-basically it doesnt look smooth where too much of it is chipped off and thus stops the faceplate attaching flush on the helmet causing a small gap where the mouth is (when closed) if i mess around i can get it to look fine.i wonder if SSC would send me a replacement faceplate? anyone have an email address link handy?? thanx, paul

Here's a pic of mine in some natural daylight, I think I might see it, although that spot is definitely a glare effect.

But from far away it doesn't look too bad.

Amazing what different lighting can bring out in these figures...

farrs, got a clear photo of it?

Marf, when did you get it? also your Batman Begins looks so damn nice. :D

to vodoun-i have taken some pics of the plate but they are bad ones -it really doesnt show up in pics as its basically just small QC issue! i was goin to email HT with the pics/receipt but it says to contact the supplier directly on the website so i went to do that but when i click the 'returns' link at SSC-my computer wont allow me to send the message (something about my laptop doesnt connect to HTTP or summink?-its not my laptop and i can task the owner for advice til tomorow!) so i was hoping just to contact them though my hotmail email account!

unless i fiddle alot-the gap where hes mouth is a bit too wide due to the small chip when in the closed position

@vodoun love your shots! what camera and lens are you using?

This also affects the rubber hands.

I lowered the contrast on Photos 1, 2 and 3 so you can see what I mean. Photo 4 is a normal shot without edits.

So far from the proto paint. Maybe HT realized the different color finish from the movie stills.

I do indeed have that problem on my original Mark III. Its one reason among others that I'm not going to buy any other Iron Man figures. For all we know this issue could deteriorate further and could be a blight on the Iron Man 2 red-suited figure(s) aswell. So for that reason and also the realisation of insufficient interest in this particular superhero on my part I'll be passing on everything else.

Great shots Vodoun! Are those real depth of field shots or are did you make them in photo shop?

Sadly yes. I faked it with the lens blur filter. Hoping one day I can get a DSLR and some fancy macro lenses.

It's a 5 year old Fuji Finepix s5600.

The best blur it can do with the wide angle lens is:

Strangely enough my hands never discoloured.

Thats exactly how mine looks in true daylight. Under normal conditions it looks like 3 and 4 but take it to a window or the sun is beaming into the room and it looks like 1 and 2.

got my EXclusive today! only 5 days after SSC sent it! but no bubblewrap-just in its shipper with a bit of tissue paper but thankfully no damage! first impressions, glad i got rid of the original MKIII to pay for this one! pics later!

mine arrives tomorrow, really hope it arrives too with no damage

sideshow should protect our stuff much better !

Thanks for the pics Vodoun, I went home and took a good look at mine. It doesn't appear to be as bad as your photos depict, but I do notice it slightly. The neck appears to be a bit worse than the torso as well :dunno

The one problem with bright red is that any light will fade it over time, especially sunlight. I've had red glass in my front window that went clear with time. Only the red, not any other color. Red flowers will also fade from the sun. Becareful of anything red.

You're being to generalized.... It all has to with chemistry, rate of break down, stability, oxidation, sun-light, UV-radiation.

In the instance of ver.1 Mk.3.... (only?) the first batches suffers this de-colouration of the rubber parts (due to bad paint composition). As well as a leg flap that cannot opens fully.

Should get my BD Ex Tomorrow. Hopefully problem free, but I'm getting it straight from SSC so I'll be covered.

I like IM1 better anyway. :D

Wasn't expecting this but my waitlist for the SSC exclusive converted! Thank you Sideshow!
