Yours still looks good :D
are you sure the color difference wasn't out of the box since the parts were of different material and neither was painted over with the color but relying on the material color itself (one being rubber the other being plastic) I could easily imagine the colr being slightly off. Sorry I was never in that discussion as I never owned the original M3 :

Yeah, still faded but not terribly like some has. It's a slightly lighter maroon from the rest of the body. Luckily it never went matte like the one that was posted on Facebook.

This is how mine currently looks.

Honestly that looks fine. My BD Mark III always looks slightly different when held under harsh light but looks perfect in my cabinet. As of yet no fading and I've had it on with LEDs on it for 4 months now. I've kept touching it to a mininum. If it was from handeling it wouldn't only certain parts go discoloured not the entire rubber bit?

If it discolours I'll just have to accept that however it pisses me off because HT are still using rubber on new figures and this makes me not want to pick them up if they are all going to fade. I'm not paying all this money again just to have the same problem on the crotch of the new ones.

just went to my local store buy they did not have anything that could help this.
i saw on the internet you can get UV filters for light fixtures.
would anyone recommend these?

What would be the optimal lighting choice? Or easy ways to protect from UV? I read "transparent acrylic sheets" on the wiki... wonder if I can find ones that are the right size for detolfs.

Yes glass is not necessarily UV coated but acrylic is suppose to have UV absorbent build in. But there are soo many different types that I just can't be sure it applies to all. Yeah I better start making cases and finish my projects as soon as possible :(

I have a question about the paint if anyone could help it would be appreciated. I noticed on mine that the paint on the abs and butt area is a different colour to the rest of the figure, the figure is a nice shade of red where the other parts are a lighter shade. Is this normal or is it a defect? Thanks for any replys

The abs and butt are made of a hard rubber so that the articulation in the legs isn't limmited by plastic. The problem people are having is that the paint on the rubber is fading and going a matt colour. It depends on how noticable the colour difference is. There is always a very slight difference due to the different material but some people's have faded really badly. Another thing is that no one knows what causes this.

We've been discussing it for the past few pages.

Thanks for the info. I know the first Mark 3 had this problem but when I look at other pics on here of the battle damaged it seems to be less apparent. Cheers

I have the BDMK3 and it has faded as well. Question- since the damage is apparently uv-fading and the parts in question are rubber, would some armor-all wipes(like you would use for your car dashboard) restore the color?

Oh, and first post!

welcome and NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use amorall!!!! At least the original stuff is petroleum based and eat at anything you use it on over time. It faded my dash in my old car so that stuff I wil NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use again. As for the fading. I assume the color is less red but the level of gloss is sitll there?

It was a 93 Acura Integra. Plastic panel just like any other interior part in the car in those days. It pretty much turned white so I had to put Armorall on just to hide it a bit. Not worth the risk. I only found out afterwards in forum that petroleum based products tend to damage plastics/rubber over time

Re: New pose

the ab part on my BD mark 3 is kind of like this now, still shiny but the red is different. it was almost as red as the chest piece when i got it out of the box for the first time... but whatever...

so is the mark 4 abs made of plastic? if yes, i'll get it and the mark 6. if not, i'll just go with the 6 and accept its fate.

nice pose, BTW

I hadn't realized mine had faded until I took that photo. For comparison, here's when he was new:

Yes the abs are plastic but the crotch piece is still rubber.

So you'll have an iron man with a shiny waist and a faded butt.

Hmm dang. So the paint on the abs and crotch, butt area is different enough again to fade differently over time or under exposure .... should post it on FB or send them an email complaint to at least point this out to make sure the next release of M4,5,6 does not suffer the same fate AGAIN!
