Where's Tony's head Geil? Whiplash taking wild swings again?

Tony's head is on M3 BD but I have another Mech Test Tony waiting patiently in the box until my shelves have covers ot cases as right now everything displayed is just collecting dust :(

I've been getting really nervous about lighting and figures now. Would any type of house lighting have any effects on rubber suited figures or any figure for that matter? I have a lamp right next to my detolf. I'm probably just being extremely paranoid though.

And you should be. Incandescent bulbs emit both heat and UV that could harm our figures. Florescent I think is safe if anyone could correct me but LEDs are safe for sure

my BD abs is fading.i only had him out of the box for two months. and so is the ab on my mark 2. but the mark 2 is tolerable because he's silver. the BD one is bothering me, his chest piece and other plastic part of him is so shiny that the difference is getting quite noticeable. i have accepted the fact that he'll totally fade away in time so i think it's time to learn the toy repair and toy painting ninja skillz.

still, a very nice piece of art.

This really sucks.

I really don't understand how you can accept that such an expensive figure will degrade in such a short period of time. Also I want to know what is causing it and why some people's V1 Mark III has never faded after a year or so of being released. It looks like only some are affected.

Man, I'll probably return mine once it arrives then... I don't want to deal with a fading Iron Man...

my markIII v1 color change in abdominal area and briefs a few months out of box. I buy when released.
never exposed to the sun. always protected . now my Mark III has two types of red. clearly distinguished
I am a crazy fan of hottoys. but I'm sick. Quality hottoys constantly makes mistakes. and seems not to matter to anyone.
hottoys are ambitious and only care about making money. and not worry about their quality
Then there are buyers who never complain. but what happens?
someone tell me "if you do not like do not buy" that's wrong thinking
I do love shopping. but I want them to do their job well
they do not do their job. we must heartily protest!

LISTEN HOTTOYS...YOU HAVE TO WORK BETTER!!!!!!

DAMN ... MORE POWER TO PROTEST!!!!
or never change

the list is endless and inexcusable errors
because we pay a lot of money

sorry my English:wave

i agree
these are collectibles that have a life span of what seems to be a few months for some people.
and i saw some people where already having problems with the rubber bodies I understand hot toys is a newish company but the problem of a longer lasting product should be a priority especially when they charge so much for them.

I'm pretty sure hot toys knows this problem, but do they announce stuff about these quality control problem in their website...and do what steps are they taking on future problems?

I inspected my two BDs again and I seriousely do not see any fading. I know M3 abs faded with almost all but the ones left inside the box (I never owned it but saw the one in Toys2 display which never saw daylight but faded slightly because of the halogen lighting). There must be something in your environment that encourages this deterioration and you should look for it as this will likely impact all your figures/collection. This deterioration I cannot see as something happening to only specific units but should impact entire batches or product lines but since mine are fine for months even in the living room by the window but have some boxes to provide shadow there must be something specific to you. btw I only have one florescent floor lamp that is in the opposite of the room so I suspect almost no UV nor heat getting to the figures

my figure never gives light and heat. are housed in an opaque cabinet

and spent a few months when he began to discolor

is unforgivable. I am very disappointed with hottoys:mad:

I am trying to say that you should consider what lighting you have in that room as it is the likeliest source of your problem generating UV.

Ok normal lightbulb will emit UV and heat! That is the reason why you don't see incandescent lighting in museums! I think safest is LED and then maybe florescent but I am not sure on the latter. Halogen I am not sure off but considering that Toys2 had used those and the M3 faded I would say that is not a safe light source either. I thinkuseums used to use mainly filtered light through fibre optical pipes but now would have mostly upgraded to LEDs

Maybe it has nothing to do with light of any kind. Maybe it's just the acid off peoples fingers/palms/hands thats creating this adverse effect to the rubber.

My original Mark 3 was never near any sort of lamps. Most of the time it's been in the box and taken out maybe 10 times. Occasionally sitting on the desk for a few weeks in a non sun facing room.

Yours still faded??? Well it is well known that paint pigmentation alters in UV. Of cause I am sure there are plenty of other ways to harm your collection but light is just the most common and overlooked source. Like I said I am sure Toys2 IM M3 was only taken out and immediately displayed exposed only to that one halogen light source and it stil faded though not as extreme as some I have seen on the M3 thread. Hmm have you been rubbing his belly too much, it's not a kitty you know :lol
I know this mainly from the printing industry where printers ink will fade in UV easily and the differnet base color would degrade differently. so nowadays when you print posters and wan them to last you have to order it with a UV coating on or find some other extrenal means to filter UV. I amnot sure if inks themselves have been made UV resilient these days though but if you are "older" you may have seen faded signs, posters etc before oh and here is an article on it (somewhere half way down)
oh PS another reason why museums tend to be dark and cold and like you said no touching :lol ;)
