Guys, I think the fading is inevitable..... just the duration it takes for the fade to happen is different ( guess it depends on the amount of paint applied on each figure). Mine wasn't even displayed at all and fades happen in 1/2 year's time.

Did a custom on the Abdominal last night........ now colour looks similar to the undamaged chest plate. Will post pics tonight if possible.

Here goes....... only pics after customization

It is very simple. Just get some ink from your gundam paneling marker on your fingers and start smearing away on the abs. Try to do it evenly to avoid black blotches. if smear is not evenly spread try using a little cooking oil to even out the smear. The ink is removable with alcohol so no worries if u make a mistake.

Do a few layers of smears to get the desired tone and you will have your mark III back in tip top condition. (note i did lose the scuff marks on the abs when doing this)

Very informative. May have to do that if My abs fade.

Mine is still in almost perfect condition. (hold it up to a bright light and you can see that the colours don't match but I think it was like that when I got it) I've had it since about a month after it was released and it's been displayed behind glass away from any direct sunlight ever since.

that looks great!!! what specific color should i get? i m not a gundam guy... so i will definitely need and appreciate more specific tips. thanx!!!

btw, just checked my BD mark 3 and the fadin is terrible... it is so obvious and it s pink!!! the abs part has very uneven fadin and the neck collar is totally pink... crap...

Nice! So no need to mask anything or take it apart and use an airbrush to get this result! Good to know in case mine fades.... so smearing you mean actually using your finger to spread it out?

Looking good! When touching the rubber area after doing your custom paint, does it feel sticky? Does it leave fingerprint marks behind?

Also same question, what marker should we use (brand, color)? Sorry have no idea on these things since I don't have gundams.

Well done. I like what you did with that.
Even if areas come out a little darker, it ties-in with the battle damaged theme. Afterall, you don't want nicks and scratches throughout and a perfectly clean abdominal region.

As mentioned, a little more specifics would be appreciated. I'm not sure many of us know what "gundam paneling markers" are let alone the correct color.

thanks guys....... the marker i used is gundam marker GM01. I try to avoid touching the abs just in case it is oily. But from what i observe the abs are not oily. Use oil sparingly though. and yes I still have black thumbs and fingernails today

So all you used were the black markers to darken the colour? I know of the markers you speak of and can get them easily.

Hopefully the fading won't be the case with the markIV and markVI

nope i didnt..... i just let it be. Check it today again... still fine the black smear still on the abs and gentle rubbing of the abs do not cause the black paint to come off.

More Mods done yesterday ...... remove rubber from the socket in the head sculpt helmet so that it can sit further down on the neck to attain a more stout look.

More mods on the ab...... scuffs added by applying metallic silver paint with a toothpick.... enjoy
