Both are already more fleshed out than Ripley after the first two Aliens, but I'd like to spend more time actually with them.

I didn't think the look was bad either, but maybe Shaw will go back to wearing the YUTANI dress (from the original Prometheus photo thing)

If they are smart they won't use Shaw as much in the sequel. Kinda hope she makes more of a cameo appearance more than anything else.

This reveal is getting more and more painful. Maybe the Neca Shaw reveal has scared them. C'mon HT don't do another Watchmen or Tron Legacy on us.

the other thing to consider is that NECA has said that they are not even sure about their Prometheus line and they are not sure if they will release everything since demand for Prometheus toys was not what they expected or something, apparently they did not sell as well as NECA hoped they would...

I hope it will completely follow Shaw/David...as they are the stars. :) that would give us an original science fiction unlike anything we have seen before, granted we will need an extremely good dialogue writer for it.

I'm not completely adverse to other human characters, but I'd hope they would remain supporting. Hopefully they will film two more films back to back, releasing them half a year apart.

I hope Shaw has a Blade Runner 2 cameo though : )

What are the odds that the engineers kill Shaw when they see her? That would be the perfect way to have her story end. She gets there, she starts to ask David to ask them What did humans do wrong, then BAM one of them kills her for no reason.

It would not only show that her trip was meaningless, but it would show that the engineers really do not want anything to do with us at all.

It should also happen in the first 15 minutes of the movie and then they can focus on something else.

laaaaaame :pfft:

I want stuff like Peter Weyland's resurrection
David tricking Shaw - becoming a god
yesh

Has a vibe like the upcoming Gravity.

Sent from the Monolith.

Just watched Alien last night again, hadnt seen it in a while. If Alien came out now I wonder if people would have the same complaints they do for Prometheus because its not that different. We aren't told anything about the crashed ship, the Jockey, the eggs, the alien or much about the crew members, if anything. And also the secondary characters are very similar where 2 crew members are only there for the money. Ripley reminds me a lot of both Vickers and Shaw now. We know far more about Shaw and David than anyone on Alien.

I hadn't actually seen Alien in a few years, ive watch Prometheus about 15+ times atleast. I have to say Prometheus is overall my favorite of the Alien films because I'm very into the subject matter about who created us and why. Before Prometheus I've studied a good deal about history of religion, so when I watched Prometheus I thought it captured a lot of how I feel and questions that I have.

Alien is a fantastic movie, one of the best Sci-Fi films ever I would say Prometheus is like 1A and Alien is 1B for me, but I just like the fact Prometheus leads you to a bigger discussion and I want to find out more.

Yeah, slightly annoying, but the problem was they had to cram so much movement forward in the movie that people just had to come out and say 'this is what is happening next' ala "It's everything, it's us," and the whole Janek military installation speech.

If there was another hour they could have fleshed it out so much more for her, the key character. Also the extending fight scene at the end builds her character just as much!

I was surprised that the movie wasn't longer. Janek's revelation about what the base was came out of nowhere for me. I understand it's fixed on the Blu-ray or there is an extra cut scene or something. But there are so many small flaws like that in the movie. We could have seen a futuristic city scene in the opening where we meet a lot of these characters and get their background. Ridley Scott made Blade Runner. For his return to sci-fi I was hoping that he would go all out.

Alien (and Blade Runner) actually got critically trashed when they came out along with many other things now considered masterpieces. The Thing (80's), 2001, De Palma nominated for a Razzie for Scarface (80's). Time improves how things are viewed

Ridley originally planned for the Prometheus crew to have 1,000 crew members. When the ship was called the Magellan. He didn't get a large enough budget to do the things he wanted though, so had to reduce.

I wonder if Alien had a larger budget at that time, if we adjust for inflation...

I don't think time improves how things are viewed, I just think critics are stupid. I saw Blade Runner when I was young and knew I was seeing something special. Even though I didn't get a lot of the things that were happening in the movie.

the only thing /i really wish Hot Toys makes is the Engineer. the human characters can all be canceled for all I care but I just wish they at least got one Engineer out. Just that would make me happy.

I agree with those who feel that prometheus will stand the test of time. Customer reviews have been getting exponentially better as time has gone on. Great film.
Show us something hot toys!

Only dumbasses listen to critics good or bad ones.
Art is all about subjectivity, i rather read essays by real scholars, like Michel ciment on kubrick. Btw any serious prometheus analysis has been done by someone with credentials or nobody bothered?

Also about the test of time, in Times of mediocrity something average can look awesome to some.

But this is not the thread for the movie.

I want my freaking engineer HT!!!!!!

Listening to critics is part of researching for a movie, I'd rather not blindly walk into a film and waste my time and money on something that's **** or I have no interest in. Yeah, if a movie looks good to me from the beginning i'd go for it, regardless of what critics have say; but if i'm not sure about it or would like a detailed evaluation so I know what to expect I turn to critics.
Especially with videogames, which are a lot more expensive than movies and I've been burned a few times buying a videogame and thought i'd enjoy but ended up hating it.

I don't always agree with critics, but its always nice to listen to opinions and it might help me get a better idea of what i'm in for.
