Personally I think HTs are fans like us and make stuff they like just as much for fans.
amount of $$ a movie makes doesn't really matter.
First time I seen it. Thanks.
Actually it does because that's how they decide if there's enough interest in a license to justify the financial risk associated with making products for it i.e. if a movie bombs, chances are there won't be enough people buying merchandise for it to turn a significant profit/a profit at all. Again, they're a business. They make products for money.
So if TDKR for example didn't earn big bucks then people magically wouldn't want the figures
please. im so tired of hearing that. there is nothing inherently racist in the notion of previsitation. Hacks are present within any field of inquiry.
Virtually every major religion is, in a way, based on some form of previsitation (whether the entitiy or entities are termed God(s) or otherwise is irrelevant).

Batman merchandise sells regardless, but if a Batman movie did tank I guarantee HT (or any company for that matter) might take that as a sign that people weren't interested in merchandise of that particular version of the character.
looks like itDoes that say 'Shaw Bridge' on the nameplate of her stand or am I seeing things?
yah Sucker Punch & Predators did horrible at the Box Office are two off the top of my head. Way way below what Prometheus did.
Then there is Avatar which took in loads of cash at the box office. It was a huge success and they only made 1 figure.
Its not always about the money....
Yes, it kind of IS about the money. For instance Sucker Punch may well have been a learning experience for them. They probably lost a lot of mney on that.
The Predator franchise is sort of like Alien, in that it has a set of intense fans in for the long haul. Most anything you make for it is going to sell; this is why we see so much collectible stuff for each franchise.
I dont really see a lot of clamoring for more Avatar stuff, so I dont know. Still dont see the film in question as being within a light-year of having the kind of fanbase enjoyed by the Predator and Alien films. However HT may disregard all monetary considerations and release some stuff for this film; I am not on their R&D board and so lack insight into what they might do.
