For all you defensiveness, you openly admit that Shaw, the film's protagonists, is almost certain to see lower sales. Care to float an explanation that does not involve sexism?

It is one thing to be pragmatic, but have the integrity to admit that prejudice (or perhaps male insecurity about identifying with a female character) is the reason that a lead character cannot lead a line without controversy.

Also for those who reject any notion of sexism, please further explain all the pervasive babbling about whether Rapace is "sexy" an the inexplicable preference of some for a secondary character like Vickers, who just happens to be played by an ex-supermodel (a great actress, but still by far the prettier of the two). Reducing a woman's worth to her attractiveness is the very core of male sexism towards women.

I have no argument to make really. I think Rapace did a good job in the lead role. It's just a case that to me personally, Fassbenders David was the standout performance from the film, and I'd say there is more of a demand for a figure of him (Fassbender in general...Magneto ).

Anyway, screw the human characters. An Engineer is an absolute must from this license. Even if he is the only figure made then fans will be content.:lecture

For all the swings taken at MechMan the people ruining this thread are the douchebags quoted above.

You all need to grow up and deal with the fact that in a rare instance where a woman is the hero/protagonist of a fantasy film, just like all the other Alien films. I have never watched AvP, but a woman was the protagonist of the original Dark Horse comic.

Show some basic respect to the plot, filmmakers and actress or GTFO.

If you ever wonder what alienates women from geeky hobbies, when I know for a fact that a lot of women are interested, it is exactly the CONSTANT immaturity and sexism of the men we run into at cons, comic shops, message boards,....

Oh jeez...here we go again. :slap

I'm not sure what guy ever did you wrong...but this is not the place to air your man-hate.

If you don't like the opinions of the people that post in this thread, then YOU madam, can feel free to "GTFO".

HT should just release all three at the same time and call it a day! :lol

That'll work. :duff

Though I do think the best route for HT to take would be to release Shaw with David's head to appeal to both fans of the film and Fassbender right out of the gate. Then follow with the Engineer and full David.

It was me. We were once married. She wanted to be a writer and I told her that ladies cannot be writers, that no one would read a book by a lady. I burned the book she was writing in order to save her heartache. Later, while shopping together, we found that lady writers in fact do exist and quite often are successful. Harry Potter, it turned out, was written by a lady and not a man as I had previously asserted. Things were different after that. She changed somehow. She started to question me more and developed an independent streak.

Personally, I want an Engineer figure first and then a David. This way, I can have the Engineer rip his freakin head off!!! :yess: :lol

David was always going to be the more popular character. Like I said, the actor playing him is the new big guy in hollywood right now. Everyone loves "The Fass". And then as far as characters go, HE WAS THE ANDROID. The sly, mischievous android who gets his head ripped off.

Why does my reasoning for favoring a male character have to be that I hate women? Why can't I just like that character better? Regardless of gender?

...and FYI, I would buy a Shaw before David. I like Noomi. I enjoy her more than Fassbender as an actress, and I liked her character more.

I also find her beautiful. I love her facial structure. Can't say the same for Sigourney, yet I'd take a figure of Ripley over any marine, Nostromo crew mate, or Fiorina 161 prisoner.

:lurkingAre hot toys still making this line, I have'nt payed it much attention since seeing the film in the movies. Not sure I want the figures anymore at this point, the film did'nt grip me as anything epic.

Because us gals can never be rational and thus make an argument from principle, this MUST be about some emotional grievance.

Interesting how you consider my demand that Shaw be given due respect as the main character is "man-hate". That pretty much exemplifies the sexism I am criticising. Thanks.

:monkey2 I gave you the best years of my life.

Star Puffs ain't a girl . . .

Not since I was fourteen.

So in other words, you are not the type of person I am criticising at all. The problem is some people here treat Shaw as either irrelevant or are actually hostile to the notion of a the main character leading off a line.

What's sexist about man-love for the Fass? :D

Instead of wasting their time with Prometheus and characters other than David and a few creatures, they should try and convince Sigourney Weaver, Michael Michael Biehn and Lance Henriksen to give up their likeness rights. Remake a slew of characters and aliens from both Alien and Aliens and call it a day.
:exactly::exactly::exactly::exactly:

What ever is released first, they shouldn't take too long to release a few figures in reasonably quick succession. Shaw and David shouldn't be too difficult seeing as they already have the bodies, they just need a head sculpt and space suit.

What was the first release for The Avengers - was it Nick Fury? Correct me if I'm wrong because I don't collect the line, but he's not the most sought after figure, yet they made him before some of the more popular ones.

They could release Shaw and David close to one another and then follow up with the Engineer, which would take them longer to design the body.

Haha! :lol You say that yet you cry because I criticize this Prometheus line for being a waste of time on a group a characters wearing the same tacky looking spacesuits and about the only thing that would even be close to worth uying would be an engineer and if they made the ship.
Sorry but the Prometheus crew will just be generic and lame.:rotfl

I get it now, you can give your opinion in this thread ad long as you agree with everyone else and don't give a hint of criticism towards the line.;)

Wow - controversy much in here! :lol

I don't see a valid debate regarding Shaw & Vickers at all.

Shaw must be made first. :lecture :lol

..& I think Noomi kicks Theron's aiss in attractiveness anyway.

No way Theron's the bomb.

Not interested in the female characters. I would only pick up David and maybe.... an Engineer although not likely.
