I'm keen for the new gloves. I'm satisfied with the rest of the ANH version.
Do the new gloves fit on the ANH just fine? I like the light-up feature arm/lightsaber. If the gloves can go on that arm, I'd be happy.

Yup. Somebody already posted somewhere in this thread a pic of ANH with R1 gloves. Looks perfect.

The only thing I'd potentially want from this figure for ANH Vader is the scuffed belt and boxes. The gloves do look better, but I've heard in a review that they are a bit of a pain to swap in and out, being that the gloves are obviously all one piece and the peg is so deep set in them. Plus with the pose I have my ANH Vader in, you don't see the gloves anyway.

I loved the movie but agree on the CGI leia..just didn't work for me and tarkin was just as bad..a case of 'less is more' would have worked better. And there were two different actors playing vader...spencer wilding in the krennic scene and stunt swordsman daniel naprous doing the action scene...hence the costume fitting differently.

I personally thought Tarkin was done really well. I don't think he was a case of "less is more" because with the film essentially being a direct prequel to ANH, I think it was pretty much imperative that he be in it. Leia I thought was a bit more obvious as far as being CGI'd and would definitely agree that she was a case of them trying to do a little too much. As someone else previously stated though, didn't detract at all from my enjoyment of the film.

I thought I saw a size comparison between this R1 Vader and ANH Vader, with the R1 being significantly taller.

Which one would you say is closer to the correct scale height?

I think ANH is plenty tall enough. It's the centerpiece of my ANH collection and aside from Chewie, he towers over the rest of the figures.

I think once the ESB version is announced / released, the ANH will be more coveted than this one.

I'd be inclined to agree. Once the hype wears off, nostalgia will supplant whatever the latest model (figure in this case) is. I did mention though that for those who don't have ANH Vader, I would go with this one simply because it's cheaper being that it doesn't have all the needless electronics; however, it also depends on what you're going for. I personally think it'd be easier to pass off the ANH Vader figure as essentially also being R1 Vader from the final scene in R1 than it would be to turn the R1 Vader figure into ANH Vader, so if you're adamant you want the ANH look, R1 won't do the trick. If you're just looking for a Vader figure to represent Vader, regardless of what film it's from or if you specifically want the majority of his R1 look, then get this one if you don't already have ANH.

Love it, for me it's an improvement on the ANH version. I know people will disagree it's just my personal feeling.

If you were going to attach the RO gloves to the ANH body it will require a little modding. The gloves are tight and the sleeves on the RO figure are shorter and closer fitting to accommodate this.

Strange how people have different reactions to the CGI: some thought Tarkin was obvious and bad, but Leia was really good, while I thought Tarkin was fine but Leia stood out more as CGI...in any case, none of that detracted from my enjoyment of the film.

Yeah I'm with you on that. Tarkin may not have been 100% convincing, especially when speaking, but it was still a damn impressive effect that I thought added a lot to the movie. And there were some shots where it really did look like the actual actor on screen again.

For me the problem with Leia wasn't so much how realistic or detailed the face looked, but just with the basic underlying likeness. The features didn't seem spaced correctly, the eyes were wrong, and it just didn't look much like her at all unfortunately.

If you do the math both figures are actually too tall to be Vader.

I'm too lazy to do the math that extrapolates 1/6 scale into 1/1 scale. I'll stick with just eyeballing. :lol

Not sure if I'd call it laziness actually, more just not that much of a concern to me. If the scale looks about right by just eyeballing, then all the better. If it looks a bit off, well, not much you can do except choose to not get the figure.

Great picture! Are you going to put the tunic over the armor at all?

Darth Vader actual height = 2.02/2.03m which is 79.5/80.0 inches (rounded up)

ANH Figure height = 13.75 inches which is 82.5 if scaled up (2.096m)

Rogue One figure height = 13.77 inches which is 82.62 if scaled up (2.099m)

Too tall.

Nah I don't think I'll bother. Yet anyway. I still need to have a proper mess with it maybe a full undress/redress and futz. It's soooo good haha

You get that off the description? Because RO Vader is way taller compared to ANH Vader. Someone posted a side by side and it was much more than .02 inches.

HT got their own measurements wrong on ANH Vader, he's closer to 13.25 if I remember when I measured mine (which is close to accurate but still too tall).
